So i hear that A&M will have to pay a huge exit fee to leave the Big 12. I'm wondering now if the SEC will try to also pluck Missouri at the same time in order to try to force the Big 12 to fold. If the members of the conference vote to dissolve the conference, I don't think the A&M or Mizzou would have to pay exit fees to leave. So i think it will be interesting to watch and see if the SEC tries to stick a pitch fork in the Big 12's side and make it dissolve so that the transition will be cheaper and easier for the schools.

I don't really think that is the motive here.

SEC cares about the SEC, not other conferences folding. That's not their business.

yeah but if the SEC wants A&M and if killing the Big 12 would make it a lot easier and cheaper, then it could become the SEC's business

Do we know for sure how much the buyout is?

Do we know for sure who is paying the buyout?

If both parties are, how much is being paid by either party?

Is the SEC really that cheap? "Yeah, we want new teams, but we don't want to pay some buyout clause."

Yeah you're probably right. But some people were the saying the buyout clause for the Big 12 is ridiculous. Some are saying $20-30 million. I doubt it will actually be that high though, so the buyout clause will probably not end up being a big deal.

So what is the 'buy-in'? SEC membership has privileges. It should cost A&M.

I figured something like this would be the hold up. How about we go ahead and add both A&M and FSU, and send the bill to Texas. They can handle it.

nope. it would be actionable if they did. contrary to what many believe, these things are determined more by nonemotional reasons. there are too many questions to expand right now. a&m has likely lost their chance (for awhile) to come to the sec. it might work if the sec expands to only 14 teams, but hell, how will that work? we would have to play 6 in division teams every year and two rotating ones. there are many that think that's "watering down" the sec rivalries. i know most schools have one bitter rival but don't kid yourself there are a lot of secondary rival games that fans do not want to give up.
