Not too worried. I RMPL anyway. General ribbing and collegial banter I can take. Otherwise, its the uninformed arrogance of some that pisses me off.

Hope he wore his cup today.

why, do you need to borrow it?

I'm just going off what my co-worker - a TCU alum - is telling me. He says it's all "cosmetic"

Fair enough, but he's wrong. Seriously though, check out the construction shots and gallery on there.

Here's the video of the implosion. Fresh coat of paint?

Judging by losses to Baylor and SMU, I'd say right about... now.

I was quoting him directly

I've never been, never seen it - we were only talking about it b/c of the the big12 move. I'm surprised he wasnt better informed, he's still in his mid 20's and seems to follow football fairly closely.

Of course, thinking back on it, his girlfriend actually talked circles around him when it came to sports - he may have just absorbed some of her knowledge inadvertently

Another thing to remember that if TCU decides to ease admissions standards for players like Michigan they could be a pretty decent program.

They have a remodeled stadium, donors, and in a good area for recruiting. I think they could be like a Miami back in the day if TCU wanted.

As long as the continue to spend money, they should be fine. In the 2009 football season, the last year for which figures are available, they had the 12th biggest budget in college football, bigger than every school in the Big 12 except Texas.

I honestly think it takes a few years to get up to speed on depth. TCU has been good the past decade in their one offs against the Big XII and ACC, but like any program, to be a consistent power, the rebuilding years need to be better than this year. The past four years were among the most successful in program history, but its going to take time to have the two and three deep that Oklahoma has, or Texas had. I think you'll see the same with A&M in the SEC much to the same tune of when Arkansas joined in the 90's.

I'm especially worried about the development of TCU's secondary given the propensity of BIG XII offenses to be pass oriented. That's where the drop off has been this year. Get that shored up with some experience and talent on the sidelines, and TCU will be fine.

They'll get better after a few years in the Big 12. They'll get a recruting bump by playing in a major conference.

Patterson is a great coach. He'll learn from the '10 to '11 transition. I don't expcet them to dethrone OU in the "Big 12" right away but they'll be near the top.

As long as he is there I don't expect TCU to become mediocre.

TCU '11 is going better than us (LSU) in '08.

Once Patterson leaves, back to the bottom they go. If they don't get there before then, ala Fresno State.

That may be pushing it. Getting to Baylor's level takes a lot of work. And besides there's always North Texas for that.

They will actually get better recruits, cause they are actually in a recognized conference. Great move by them.

TCU was in a major conference for a long time and was terrible.
Any team from Texas should and could dominate the MWC like they did, but they are going to take a much larger step up in cometition.

I will say this though, I could see them beating out Tech and Baylor for awhile. All in all, it was a great move for them.

TCU has lost two games by 9 pts total (Baylor by 2 and SMU by 7 in OT). We got blown out by UF and UGA in '08 by about this juncture of the season.

The parallel being they are having to transition from a great '10 as we did from a great '07.

I don't see TCU going mediocre as long as Patterson stays around. If he departs, all bets are off.

The conference won't be as strong as when Nebraska and Colorado and aggy roamed but TCU will face an uphill battle with OU, UT, OSU and possibly Tech. So, yes, I expect a serious drop off in wins by TCU after four or five years.

Right now I'm more concerned about the SEC and the serious drop off from the top two teams. We are beginning to look a lot like the other conferences (B1G, Pac12,Big12) that are dominated.

Seems like they are pretty mediocre this year.

It seems like the "big" mid-majors teams like TCU, Utah and Boise State make a push every four years or so with veteran players. When TCU moves to the Big XII, I see them becoming a program like Pitt or Texas Tech always hovering around that Top 25 spot and making a push with a good team every ten years or so.

Not I. TCU will be a 7-8 win team in the Big 12 for a very long time. They're going to turn into what Baylor was before RGIII
