I am still stumped. People keep acting like A&M to the SEC is a devastating blow to Texas for some reason......it makes no sense.
quote:
Well for starters...
1. It's not just about A&M anymore...the other members in your conference are getting very restless with things.
2. Daddy Dodds is no longer driving "Big 9 Bus" (which by the way is looking more and more like a "short bus").
3. Boren and Stoops up at OU are now leading either the exodus from your dying conference, or its rebuild effort.
Bingo.

Or TX can get even greedier and try the independent route. Problem is, the Pac 10/12/16, the Big 10/12/14/16 and the SEC conference teams won't play them without TX shelling out enormous cash. The conference teams gain little by playing TX out of conference.
Double bingo.

Funny that Texas helped create all of this mess. And yet they continue to whine.

Hmm... So the Sooners have the control now. Too funny.
They have had it for some time. People are finally seeing it for what it is. OU wanted the league to stay together, yes, but OU is, in the end, going to do what is best for OU. They sat back quietly and watched the train wreck, all the while enduring being called Texas' bitch. OU has been the bell cow in this dying conference for the better part of a decade. Texas may have more money, but hardware speaks for itself, and now speaks for an entire conference.

What I got out of this thread was that Texas fans think their 10 win seasons count as the equal of a 10 win season in the SEC which is absolutely delusional.
That they don't think A&M going to the SEC will cause them to lose any recruits once they start watching real football being played by a Texas based team causing them to think more seriously about playing in a conference that beats down everyone every year for BCS championships.
They think that everyone would love to have them in their conference and they can keep their network and continue to screw over everyone else in whatever conference they end up in because they're Texas.
And if they went independent they wouldn't be laughed out of contention for championships most years.

Dear LSU fans. I see you got a taste of "We're Texas" on this thread.
It should actually read "We're entitled"
I think A&M having LSU, Bama, Auburn, et al into College Station will have a huge impact on our recruiting in all sport, not just football. Our friends in Austin are turning into the dumb aggies they claim that we are. In the words of Elaine when George gets his dream job and she loses hers, "I've become George".

UT fan's delusion that A&M is out of their league in the SEC. In that past 40 games versus the Horns, the series is tied 20-20.
Wow!!! But I thought that bigger and more money was always better in Texas
I guess Texas is a "wasted" program then, even with their Long Horn Network.

They (Sooners) have had it for some time
Forgive me if I missed something, but everything early last summer looked to me like OU was "hitched" to Texas all the way ( At least on the surface).
No doubt that was a painful image to project if deep down Stoops and Boren had their heart elsewhere.

TX has built their reputation on beating the hell out of the Rice, TCU, SMU's UTEP, Baylor's of the world. The future schedule posted above looks akin to an old SouthWest conference slate.
That schedule won't pay the bills. The LHN will have to merge with The home shopping network. ALSO WTF was ESPN thinking? Every ones gonna come kiss that arse to be on Texas schedule so they can be seen on the LHN?

I really, really hope your athletic department keeps thinking along these lines. I really do. If you're a recruit, do you want to play in a conference that's playing for national championships year in and year out? Or in a conference that might implode at any second and offers road trips to the stunning football venues of Ames, Iowa, and Waco, Texas?
Boom!!! Everyone sees this except for the folks wearing the orange tinted glasses...

Couple of thoughts after reading this and I haven't read through the thread itself so forgive me if I'm repeating some of what's already been typed here.
Texas is typical of Texans. Always bragging and nobody really takes them seriously in the end. They are the bully telling every other conference member since the inception of the Big12 that they are the end all, be all in the conference and that the others are nothing without them despite having been the 3rd best program in the conference behind Nebraska and Oklahoma. They got unequal revenue sharing with that argument. I guess they truly believe that the people within Texas are all that matters as yes, Texas has twenty something million people, but the rest of the country has about 280 million people who couldn't give a rat's patoot about Texas. I think the bullied just finally had enough and realized there's so much life after Texas. See Nebraska!
Aggies will be Aggies! I have no sympathy for Aggies in all of this. If you're equal to Texas as you claim over and over and over again ad nauseum, why in the heck did you ever take less money in the first place? I think the real issue with A&M is that you're a strange breed of people and I don't mean strange in a good way. You are to college football as the fundamentalist mormons are to religion. There is little to admire about a university whose population has created an entire genre of joke telling. By taking your ball and running, you breed contempt from college football fans, not respect.
As an SEC fan, the SEC needs no other schools to continue to be the best conference in college football. Say you added Texas and Oklahoma to the Pac-12. This makeup would still have only 3 BCS titles (2 if you don't count the one vacated by USC) as compared to the 7 of the SEC. Texas A&M brings nothing to this conference in terms of winning football championships and who really cares that much about the other sports to be honest. This move was made for football reasons and nothing else. The addition is not needed. True college fans could care less about TV households. Although A&M is good this year and was last year, those seasons are the exception rather than the rule. You have one conference championship in 15 seasons. Their addition to the SEC adds nothing to the prestige of the conference.
Baylor does stand to be a big loser in conference realignment and may look foolish in all of this but if it helps to keep our conference at its current membership, go ahead and sue!!

Now that the Pac12 Comish says no expansion for him I think the Big12 is here to stay for a year or two until the SEC can find a suitable 14th.
If Pac12 is closed to OU and the B1G won't take them I think the writer was saying UT's only options are Independent or equal revenue sharing with the remaining B12 members.
He is pissed because TCU hasn't been able to shoe horn it's way into the Big 12. I don't blame him.

You're an idiot!!! A fluke play - his pussy arse hadn't been hit all year long. A real d-lineman grazes his arse and he's out. Nothing fluke about it. It was his "oh shite moment" then your back-up rode the oh shite merry go round the rest of the night. UT sucks. In your Vince years, you're a 3 loss team in either SEC division. UT equals Miss St with some swag. Of course, that is short lived.

What bad thing is happening to Texas in all of this? What am I missing? A&M is doing Texas a big favor. Both schools, for a long time, have wanted to break free of Baylor & Tech. If aggie can get it done, the Horns are freed up as well to leave......probably to the Big 10 with ND. That is what Texas has wanted for many years, because they realize they can't compete in the SEC.
