Not exactly a new talking point.

I think only A&M would dispute that. However, OU and Nebraska used to be just as big if not bigger in the Big 8 days. That rivalry is all but dead now.

I counted it up one night, and in the entire existence of the Texas and Texas A&M series, only about six times have both teams come into the game ranked.
With Texas and Oklahoma, it's been about 35 times.

This is like a girl who gets dumped and does nothing but talk about how she doesnt care she got dumped and the guy is stupid etc.

Dumped? I seem to recall it's two Aggie state legislators who are trying to FORCE BY LAW the University of Texas to continue playing Texas A&M

This reminds of "some" bammer fans trying to claim UT as their biggest rival and the game with AU not nearly as important.

So you're saying that it's completely true that some Alabama fans would rather play Tennessee?

Why are we still talking about irrelevant schools in irrelevant conferences?

I can't say whether some bama fans would really rather play UT instead of AU or not. What I can tell you is when AU was raising the fingers and beating bammer down, the excuse i heard after every one of those wins was "UT is our biggest rival, not AU. AU only cares about beating Bama"
My only point is that it is a sour grapes excuse.

Whatever the situation is in Alabama, it really seems that way in Texas. That being said, Auburn is much more relevant than A&M.

I'm guessing that your opinion of the University of Texas wasn't too high, even before all of this drama?

What has Texas gained in all of this? Whether aTm is your biggest rival or not, they are gone. Mizzou is looking for an exit, and the conference is looking to add some irrelevant teams simply to maintain their tv contract...
I could care less what happens to Texas or the rest of the conference. I don't have to worry about planning my Saturday around crap match ups against an Air Force or a TCU or a Tulane or a BYU or a Cincinnati. If I was a Texas season ticket holder I wouldn't pay for a season's worth of garbage opponents.

I guess that's why Texas mentions OK in its fight song.

who do the Sooners consider their biggest rival? Texas or Nebraska? I assume they look down on Ok State too much to give them the pleasure

Gone, in what sense? Texas A&M still desires to play the University of Texas every season.
