Chris Low on West Virginia...

Just talked about expansion on his radio show in Knoxville just now.
Summary:
West Virginia did apply for SEC membership when Pitt and Syracuse joined ACC.
SEC took informal poll of presidents, presidents "were not very interested in West Virginia" with some of the other options that were out there at the time and they did not get close to the nine votes needed for membership.
SEC will wait and see what exactly happens across the country in the next year or so with the Big 12 before doing anything else. The hope is that Oklahoma or Missouri will be 14, but Oklahoma is not likely.
If there is no major movement in college sports in the next year-to year and a half, West Virginia will be the very first call the SEC will make to get to 14.
SEC does not want to stay at 13 for more than a year.

I agree. Get to 14 sooner rather than later

I doubt that would stop a school from joining... Expecially depending on TV contracts, etc..
aTm will pay close to that to come...

UF doesn't want FSU. I can't see that happening.

A&M is going to be paying something, I've heard in the $10-$15 range. Its not like other schools couldn't do the same.

somewhere i read invites are only going to new states, so WVU and mizzou are the likely options unless Texas or Oklahoma wanted in..
so take that as ruling out all flordia teams.. SEC wants new markets with new viewers..
personally I like WVU athletic-wise... but I really don't want anymore jhorts in the SEC

Big "if." I think we just kick over the anthill and see what comes crawling out. ACC is so scared they already added two teams just in case they get raided.
Someone else will come. And it won't be some Hello Kitty school like Louisville, TCU or USF.

If you were to add FSU or (ick) Miami to the SEC, true you already have an "in" to the Florida market with UF, FSU and UM are also national brands like Notre Dame and USC. If you brought either of them in you gain viewers from across the nation, not just regionally or from one stae like if you got a school from NC, Virginia, etc.
