I do enjoy sports, but not enough to merit any knowledge as to what is going on right now with the conferences. Could someone please explain what the heck is going on so I can comprehend this craziness?

Nebraska is joining the Big10
Colorado is joining the Pac10

There are reports that more Big12 teams will be leaving

The ACC and SEC have been very quiet

Big Ten announces they are looking to expand

Pac 10 does the same

Big 12 falls apart for many reasons revolving around unfair sharing of da $$$$$

Big 12 teams jump ship

Other conferences are being proactive and looking into expansion as well.

That's where we sit right now, with Colorado being official to Pac 10 and Nebraska going to the Big 10 coming up any day now.

There are a lot of money and tv deals( i do not know the details) and different schools want different things. Colorado has agreed to go to the Pac 10 conference and Nebraska to the Big 10. The Big 12 conference will soon be history

sources say SEC has been talking to FSU, TAMU, among others, but they definitely aren't being as proactive as others.

Big 10 has 11 teams and wants an even number (12 or 16)...first step is to add one team. That team is Nebraska, who will make more money being a part of the Big 10. Without Nebraska, the Big 12 is severely weakened. The Pac-10 has 10 teams and wants to also expand to 12. So they have added Colorado and eventually another team (BYU?).

Big 12 will collapse and Texas, OU, A&M and Texas Tech will need to move somewhere...

Remember Hungry Hungry Hippos? Well the conferences are hippos and the schools are the marbles.

LSU-UT rivalry needs to happen.
LSU fans would quickly infest Texas on game days and vise versa.
I hope we grab four.

Nobody can explain it. Things are changing and evolving by the minute.

It seemed the Pac-10 was about to become a mega conference with 6 teams from the big 12 and not it looks like they may be edged out by the sec and big 10 with nothing but the dregs.

But nobody knows. It truly is very fluid at the moment.

I'll sum it up in two words: TV dollars.
