The Big 12, despite losing Nebraska and CU, is still rated as the #2 conference this season behind the SEC. My though is that ASSUMING West Virginia and TCU can play at or near the current level they are at currently then the Big 12 will stay the second best conference overall.

I just don't see a drop off at all with these two additions. If they really move to equal revenue sharing like it looks like they are going to do then I don't see the conference folding or breaking up like many on here assume.

B12 is not the second best conference.

The pollsters and computers say otherwise.

Yep, everything I have seen says it is the second best conference still.

Holgorsen has to be giddy as hell to get to use his Texas connections for recruiting again.

I'm not sure why people on this board think otherwise. I know there is a large amount of hate directed at Texas (I still have no idea why any of us should give a frick), but the conference has talented teams even when UT is going through a much needed correction.

If you're to assume that WVU and TCU will not drop off in the Big 12, at all......then you've got to assume that A&M can immediately be a 9ish win team in the SEC, and that Mizzou can get as high as #1 in the nation like they were in 2007.

Fine with me!

Not really the same thing. The SEC isn't losing teams. You're joining a full league already. WVU and TCU are taking the places of the #3 and #5 teams imo in the conference that is already beneath the SEC in terms of quality. Its going to be much easier for them to win than it is going to be for Mizzou and TAMU to win.

For the record. I think TAMU will compete with Arkansas and UT as the 6th/7th/8th best team in the conference and Mizzou will turn in to a bottom feeder. I think WVU and TCU are both better programs than MU and about on the same level as TAMU/Arkansas.

Football-wise the Big XII improved themselves.

TCU won't be shite when they play a Big XII schedule. They couldn't even beat Baylor this year

If you look at WVU, they didn't rise up until VaTech and Miami left the Big East. It'll be fun to see them switch Boston College and Rutgers for OU, OSU, etc.

Losing TAMU hurts a lot more than Mizzou

TAMU has won a lot of Big12 championships in a lot of different sports

I believe Mizzou has 0 mens Big12 championships and 3 womens championships

While it isn't the same thing.....WVU and especially TCU play complete joke schedules now compared to a season in the Big 12. Whether it is the 2nd 3rd or 4th best conference, look at the regular season teams that TCU and WVU currently play and compare it to playing OU, UT, OSU, TT and the other misc. Big 12 teams that happen to be decent in a given season (KSU and Baylor this year). Hell, TCU lost to this years Baylor team that A&M blew out.

I think in the end WVU ends up being in the same class as TT and Okie State; consistent bowls, and every so often a season like OSU is currently having.

TCU on the other hand could be anything between Baylor, and those programs. The schedule adjustment will be interesting. Look at Utah in the Pac this year.

TAMU seems to be headed in a better direction from their recent hibernation, while Mizzou seems to be headed in the opposite direction after a few good years with Daniels and so so years with Gabbert

right, I don't think these Big 12 sympathizers grasp that...the SEC added two programs from a strong conference...that same strong conference replaced them with a team from the Mountain West and a team from a depleted Big East...those two new teams will play as hard of a schedule as ever, and it will show in the win/loss column.

Don't get me wrong. I know the BE dropped off once Miami and Va Tech left, but we finished 2nd behind Miami the two years prior to them leaving and won 2 BSC bowls a few years later.

I fully realize the loss of TAMU, and TCU won't make up for it

But Mizzou is nit as big of blow, WV has better basketball and about equal football

Once again Mizzou failed to win a single Big12 Mens championship

Based SOLELY on football and basketball strength, I'll give you that WVU is overall equal to or stronger than Mizzou.

WVU will be right there with TT and OSU in football, and right under KU in basketball in the average season.

I think OSU is in a different tier than Tech though, so I dint see that being an accurate comparison
