You sure about that? BAMA football is all that there is in Alabama. No pro teams (major league) and fans as rabid as any.

Bama football is discussed every day of the year in Alabama. Could there be a Bama Network? I think there could be. Has Bama acted selfishly, no.

Got any numbers on that, or are you just guessing?

It will do one of two things: it will either allow Texas easier access to a BCS bowl or it will make it tougher.

You're out a little far on that limb. Better back up before you fall.

This conference is probably doomed. Before too long, it will fall apart. The worst angle on that is that Texas will probaly come out of it smelling like a rose.

Texas only smells like a rose because espn had one source and one source only, orangbloods.com. How many times did they have someone on from texags or ouinsider(is that their website?) Instead, chip brown spoke for EVERYONE and espn never questioned it.
That is exremely poor journalism. Its one-sided and has little regard for facts.

Its like the guy that wrote the eyes of texas got thru the first line and went
"The eyes of texas are upon you... Ish, that's all I've got."

I don't know, man--the Big East hasn't died, and I'd expect the Big 12 to be stronger.

the major difference is that largely the big east teams are not being coveted by other conferences

pitt and rutgers maybe so - but they aren't a "10" a moneymaker others would sell the farm to recruit (like at least Texas is)

The Whole Big 12 disintegrates the minute that Texas leaves

I think most Texas *fans* are unhappy with this arrangement. Coupled with the sheer venom of the rest of the Big 12-2 I don't see it lasting too long.

This is not surprising really. I'll be honest, in my experience with Austin and the University. Both are full of a lot of "smart people who are short on common sense." UT probably paid some slick agency down there, full of shiny shirted BMW 3-series leasers, to advise them on the PR around all this. Really would not be shocking.
