Uh...how 'bout NO, you crazy dutch bastard!

North - Arky, Mizzou, Vandy, KY, UT, Bama, USCe
South - LSU, TAMU, UGA, AU, Ole Miss, UF, Miss St

LSU, UF, AU as the beasts of the South
Bama, Arky, USCe or UT as beasts of North

TAMA, UGA - next level South
Mizzou, UT or USCe - next level north

Ole Miss, Miss St - suck of the south
KY, Vandy - suck of the north

I'll concede right now the South would be stronger - much like current West.

Although the argument is silly I will go ahead and play just this once.

Florida's oldest rival, the Gators and Auburn are in their ninth decade of competition against each other. There has been enough joy, tears, upsets, comebacks, gut-wrenching defeats or wins, controversy, seriousness and humor to satisfy fans from both schools in the Florida-Auburn football series, which dates back to 1912 .

IIRC, when scheduling only allowed for one cross division rival instead of two, Florida wanted their rival to be Auburn every year because they had played us more than any other team in the West, but Auburn picked UGA because of the whole started playing against each other first deal.

This is absolute fact.

I think you would have to flip AU and Vandy or UGA and Vandy to try to balance it.

Bottom line: Alabama and Tennessee will never vote for any expansion or division move that kills the Bama/UT rivalry. And Slive will never go forward with a proposal that is strongly opposed by Bama and UT. Deal with it.

Little older than 10 and I grew up in Florida with many friends any family that attended UF so I think I know what this rivalry is about. How old do you have to be to be an expert??

IMO, if you go to 7 team divisions, you should just drop all permanent cross-divisional games. Otherwise we have to go to 9 conference games OR have one permanent cross-divisional rival and one rotating. So, in theory, AU (if we go East) might only play LSU (or UF if we stay West) once every 6 years in that format.

That's garbage.

Maybe old enough to realize that AU and UF had been playing each other since before the Roaring Twenties. COMPETITIVELY playing each other.

Decades at a time where UF was not regularly playing FSU or Miami, they were playing AUBURN.

Rivalry? You're damned right. LSU is a johnny-come-lately in that regard (though you may like it better).

Fine with me. Flip UGA to north and take Vandy (it's weird, but alright). Keep AU as Bama's permanent cross division rival.

How about, with 7 team divisions, you play each of your division rivals and leave it up to the schools themselves to schedule their cross-division match-ups?

Can't tell if serious.

That'd go over like a turd in a punch bowl.

The past is in the past. I was sad to the the Florida game go away but it did. Florida fans don't give a shite about Auburn. I don't want to leave the west just to get to play Florida.

Wouldn't the simple solution be to make Mizzou an east team?

Other than the travel issues, which I really don't give a shite about as it's not my problem, yes.

I was just throwing something out there. UA to the north and OM to the south makes it more balanced in football. Basketball, not so much.
