The big east has not deserved AQ status for a few years now.

The Big East has only been around since the early 90's, so that's not their all time avg in the Big East, plus IDGAF what their record was prior to the Kennedy administration.

More importantly, conference expansion is not about adding teams that have been good recently, its about adding new TV markets and there are certainly better markets than WVa. WVa is a small market, much smaller than Missouri, Fla and Ga. However adding a new market, even a small one, might be better than adding teams from existing markets.

However, if we look at on the field success, over the last 25-30 years, WVU has been pretty good. Their record the last 10 has been very good, its included 3 11 win seasons and 2 BCS bowl wins. And spare me the SECtard responses about the Big East and Boise. The Big East may be the worst BCS conference, but its still a level of competition above the WAC and MWC. The computer rankings prove that.

West Va is clearly not the first choice, the question is, are the acceptable if the better choices say no. If its between them and Mizzo, I'd take Mizzo, but if the SEC wants to avoid adding another team from the West, them WVU is not a bad choice assuming you can not pull some one from the ACC.

WVU fans are very passionate on a SEC level. But...Stadium would be 3rd smallest in SEC. No TV market / recruiting base - not sure how they bring $ value

We are adding 15,000 seats to make it 75,000.

As far as $$ goes, although a small state WVU is 15th nationally in apparel sales(bu bu the poor coal miners can't afford anything??) and top 25 in revenue.

You guys keep coming back to this point in different threads. It's completely stupid. We already have plans to add more suites and 10,000-15,000 seats. And that was pre-SEC. These additions bring us identical to Arkansas size. Besides, you've got Vandy in the SEC and their stadium is barely CUSA size

The no TV-market is just as dumb. We've proven time and time again that we bring viewers to the screen

At the time the conference was formed, Vandy was probably the best team in the conference. Obviously, things have changed, but just saying.

Don't care about stadium, WVU is a crap team bringing MINIMAL to the SEC.

ECU gets the SEC in NC.

If you want a crap team from up north, grab Cincy, that gets the SEC in Ohio.

And once again...Cincy's campus IS FARTHER SOUTH than WVU's.

When you’re the SEC, you get to call the shots. Fishing for the likes of West Virginia and Mizzou does more good for the invitee than the inviter, which is not the way this kind of a negotiation should develop

Here's the irony of your retard rant, WVU is not a great market, which, after all is what this is about, they are however a very good team, to say other wise is stupid SECtard logic.

You clearly have no clue what this is about. Cincy gets you no more in Ohio, than Houston gets you in Texas. There are way more tOSU fans than Cincy fans in Cincy, outside if Cinc, they add nothing. frick, WVU, prolly gets you more in Pennslyvania, than Cin does in Ohio and and the geographical refernce.

that's an good point, but if UNC, Va Tech and Md don't/can't afford to leave the ACC, then what do you do? Stick with 13 or find someone else. The next best choices would be Mizzo and WVU, unless you want to go to 16 and take OU and their appendage, OSU. Personally, I'd rather add WVU and stop at 14 before creating the SWC/Big 8 redux in the SEC W.

Really? Your requirements for "very good" must be "very low".

This is about the SEC getting the team THEY want. Not adding the crap team some fans want.
