I'm just messing with you mattz. I know where you coming from.
Texas only has 1 National Championship in the last 40 years, but those cocksuckers act like they win one every other.

FTR, I would LOVE for TAMU to out-recruit and outplay Texas. I just realize that a move to the SEC won't be enough to make that happen.

what you said: "Kids here grow up wanting to play for Texas. It has always been that way"

i'm merely pointing out that your 16-yr-old self is wrong. based on history. which you are apparently allergic to.

You just ignored my post, which gave you the bigger history.

I tend to ignore strawmen. that's what saying things like "Texas have 4 NCs!" is. Why? Because it has nothing to do with your original claims above, which you have yet to back up.

Let's revisit.....

mattzzz: "They want to play for Texas and that won't change. [snip] Kids here grow up wanting to play for Texas. It has always been that way"

I pointed out that it clearly has NOT always been that way. In fact, A&M absolutely abused UT in recruiting in the 80's and 90's.

But, hey go ahead and keep quoting all-time W/L records, cuz... why are you doing that again?

(A: strawman)

No, you tend to ignore facts. Facts that explain why Texas is No. 1 in the state of Texas. Why do you think UT is so much better historically?

And can you provide a link showing where I said that A&M was never better than Texas? A&M being better for a short period of time - when Texas was down - doesn't disprove that UT is this state's passion.

Kid didn't grow up wanting to play for Texas because they were down during the late '80s and early '90s? To you, me saying that kids have always wanted to play for Texas = Texas always out-recruited TAMU. You're the idiot. But I wouldn't expect you to realize it.

matttzz, let me first apologize to you for referencing a quote from a movie that came out when you were, like, 3.

the movie did exist, however. I promise.

Instead of hurling another personal attack, why don't you answer my question. Kid didn't grow up wanting to play for Texas because they were down during the late '80s and early '90s?

mattz, i've not only answered your question, but refuted your arguments several times. Your m.o. is to evolve your argument in hopes no one will notice.

why don't *you* go ahead and actually try to support this claim of yours?:

"They want to play for Texas and that won't change. [snip] Kids here grow up wanting to play for Texas. It has always been that way"

(still waiting)

Since you seem to be lost, I'll recap for you.

This what I initially responded to:

quote:

I think tam will begin to out recruit texas. If you are a high school kid in texas would you rather play in pac 10 or sec?

My response, which was based on his assertion that the power of the SEC would cause TAMU to out-recruit UT:

quote:

They want to play for Texas and that won't change.

Then I said:

quote:

Kids here grow up wanting to play for Texas. It has always been that way, and it would take massive change (more than just TAMU moving to the SEC) to change that.

Which you took to mean, "UT has always always out-recruited TAMU - even when they were down."

Yes, if Texas hires a lousy coach (like they did then) and falls off the face of the earth, TAMU would out-recruit them. On an even playing field, Texas is the No. 1 choice. That's why they have gotten the best players in the state throughout most of their history.

I guess when you said
quote:

always
we thought you meant "always".

mattz, how old are you?

i ask because when I moved to Houston in 1992, A&M was in the middle of a long stretch of recruiting domination over Texas. Ebb and flow, man.

This is so true- a few 'down' years by Texas, & if A&M picks it up in the 'win' column, things WILL change...

I have been in Houston since 1980; at times, I have seen the Houston Chronicle actually send reporters to cover LSU games, and even had the Jerry Stovall show on TV in the 80's! But generally, the SEC is a blackhole in the media once you arrive over the border in Orange. Regular coverage by the media would be a godsend for us long suffering Tiger fans in Houston...

Yep. Shoulda said something like, "so long as the football leadership at the university of Texas is better than their counterparts at Texas A&M university, they will out-recruit and out-perform them on the field. The contrary is also true, as the past 35 years or so of history between the two shows."

I wouldn't have any problem with that statement.
