we're the SEC and we add...
wait for it.....
A&m and Missouri. wow.
As a Florida fan, you have no right to bitch. Florida is what is keeping FSU from joining.

Who cares how big their TV market is? No one in Missouri gives a shite about Missouri football.
Mizzou averaged 60,000 for attendance last year (10,000 under capacity), despite all the markets people like to attribute to them, LOL.

no kidding. people act like A&M and Mizzou == Baylor and Memphis.
Both have big alumni bases and resources, oh and tv markets.
do people really want to add OU and make the SEC football slate even tougher than it already is? I like the idea of what happened in '09.... you have the SECCG be the de facto national semi-final. And then the winner makes it to the BCS title game.
Making the SEC overloaded with football powers would most certainly mean eventually losing out on a well-deserved spot in the BCS title game.

i think the ACC expanding and FSU enjoying an easier road is getting less publicity than it should. sure, UF affects it, but i think that FSU wants to stay.

I would rather go to Columbia than College Station as far as towns go.

really? i was basing mine off of seeing the aggie experience and going into kyle field. mizzous looks small and underwhelming with little to no crowd excitement. they are the UK of the west it seems, rather be watching a BBall game
...and that's wrong.
...and that's wrong.

I don't know if you guys think of 1880 Tombstone, Arizona when you picture College Station, but we've got a population near 100,000 that doubles if you include the surrounding immediate areas.
That being said, it is definitely a college town in much the same vein as most SEC schools. We have our stuff to do that we appreciate and that we cherish, but we understand that the attraction here is at Kyle Field on a Saturday in the Fall.

Not SEC =/= horrible. I agree they aren't a great program or team right now.

I do not think their trajectory is upward
I guess we'll just have to disagree on that then. Jimbo is obviously an upgrade from the later Bowden years and they are recruiting they're asses off. I look for them to be a major power in the coming years. Give Jimbo a couple years.

And as for Jimbo...I'm not sold. Good coach. Not great.
I guess it's really too early to say for sure.

I'd rather take Mizzou than have this 13 bullsh!t...
Posted on 9/28/11 at 1:42 pm to gatorhead1013
If Mizzou is #14 can we require that they give all Western Div team 2 home games for every 1 that they have to travel to Columbia?

Finebaum Network Bowden told me UF 2 blame 4 keeping FSU out of SEC as 14. Apparently Gator Nation can't handle Jimbo beating their brains out in recruiting.
Figures.

He can out-recruit us all he wants. As long as he goes 1 in every 6 against us, we won't mind.

Gonna have to agree with clamdip on this one.
No matter who we add to the conference its gonna be much farther than what were used to. Distance is going to be a problem. I mean, we can't add schools like Tulane, Southern Miss, UAB. Yeah, sure these schools are closer but pathetic as well. And we don't want to add an OU or Texas because then someone from the SEC would almost never make the championship game cause everyone would have a loss. The schedule would be too difficult

Missouri joining the SEC will make them upgrade their facilities soon. They have some very wealthy alumni. I think they will be competitive in a few years. Potential is there IMO
There's a lot of talk about a $160 Million campaign to upgrade all of our facilities within the next few years.
I've heard a lot of people who are close to big time boosters that the $160 Million is contingent on us leaving the Big 12.

Geography matters less than competitive balance for divisions. Divisions aren't used for basketball any longer.
Based on competitive balance you put Ole Miss and Vandy in separate divisions. One cupcake for each.
Also, I abolish permanent opponents from other division.
Division ABC
LSU
Bama
Auburn
Tenn
USC
MSU
Ole Miss
Division XYZ
UF
UGA
Ark
A&M
Mizzou???
UKy
Vandy
