In other words, if I work hard but still have an 8-win "mediocre" season, knowlegable fans and the university should understand that it happens in the parity of college sports and in the 5* time NC SEC and not become stricken with Chicken Little syndrome and call for my ouster.

I'm afraid I'm too stupid to accept yet alone understand these ridiculous terms.

how many other coaches have such a clause in their contracts?

How many other coaches have to deal with the significant influence of ignorant bubbas in their booster organization and their fanbase?

I think Miles meant that people shouldn't freak out due to an occasional 8-win season.

Good luck getting the Sabanistas here to realize that.

he shouldn't be fired after 8 wins. that is ludacris. Give the man his clause.

has nobody brought up the possibility that Miles is asking for this clause assuming LSU says no

No bad blood, essentially leaves on "good terms"

I can't speak for the booster org., but there are ignorant fans at every school. LSU doesn't have the market cornered on morons, it just seems that way on this board.

We, (the fans), shouldn't even be a factor in his decision. If Miles wants to be head coach, he has to have thick skin.

Saint Nick talk is so 2004. Great coach and we'll always owe a debt of gratitude, but that bee-aaatch left us long ago.

ANy coach of any major SEC power.

You think BAma and Auburn aren't afflicted by a plague of "bubbas"? How about FLorida and "jort" nation? Arkansas and its meth mob fanbase? Ole Miss and Mississippi State are paragons of progressive sophistication?

Les, GTFO if 8 wins is your standard. We ARE LSU, not Michigan. They better not give Les this clause. 10-11 wins are expected here. 8 is barely mediocre.

Well was just able to get here and catch up. Did not read through all 14 pgs but enought to get the details. I am sure it has been said somewhere already but will say again anyway. How about Alleva countering saying he has to fire Crowton and there can not be anymore offense rankings in the 90'-100's.

Joe Alleva needs to step up and say "Miles is our coach, come hell or high water." He needs to support his coach. Period. Wavering, spaghetti-like support is for pussies.

How about Alleva letting Miles run the football program and throwing Miles his support?

It's college football. 8 win seasons occasionally happen.

Miles would be the first to admit LSU should play for championships every year, but if the Tigers come up short of that goal, he would like to see the administration stand behind him, instead of giving him a luke warm grade.

i understand everyone has down years, he has brought us back up, which i will give credit to him for out recruiting everyone, but also people can fall as well, some people get contracts like this and quit working, some are self motivated and dont...point is he hasnt done anything to warrant getting a clause that says i cant be fired for 8-5, cause that's what 8 wins is, 8-5! Now, you put that in someones contract and it happens 2-3 years in a row, people will say who the frick put that in?....

I like les, im glad he is staying for two reasons, he recruits well, and he is an honorable good man, he just needs good coordinators....

the man has had his blunders all over national TV...other SEC coaches have made fun of him, you make that kind of money you shouldnt have made the mistakes he has made....now, if those mistakes havent been made, or if our offense wasnt in the 100th rank the last two years, id be more incline to possibly give that kind of clause because he has positives that Saban and Meyer dont have...but fact is other good coaches are out there and he doesnt deserve that kind of clause, maybe Urban and Saban, guys like those can have them cause they are extremely self motivated people...

point is, i think both sides have an argument, but i dont think you should ask a university to put a clause in your contract that says "you cant be fired after 8-5 season"...you should earn your keep....if i were Alleva i would have told him, hey, we'd love to keep you but i dont make promises I cant keep, hopefully you can understand that" of course, i could be wrong and nothing like that would be put into his contract.
