Would we agree that until the end, the less smoke...the more likely the candidate?

The ones that get dismissed easily as won't leave type candidates are serious contenders. Most anyone should be on the table for $12 million a year assuming that is a legitimate number. Regardless a bunch of coaches are about to get fat raises because of the Lsu search.
One that comes to mind. Cincinnati couldn't dream of matching LSU's offer. I don't get how everyone just assumes Fickell wouldn't take the job just because it's out of Ohio. Makes no sense. Coaches coach to reach the summit. Why give up that opportunity to hope another job opens near by vs one starring you in the face. Don't know if its Fickell but I think everyone has him off the list under assumption.
My biggest concern is when teams start purging coaching staffs at the end of the year and more vacancies open.

Matt Campbell at Iowa St. Fits all the criteria. Relatively young, somewhat ethnic looking, scandal free family man, plenty of experience as a head coach, and most of all, a very solid coach who could bring LSU back to relevance.

There is almost no smoke around PJ Fleck as well. Makes me think he is a bigger player than folks are letting on. Hiring him just makes sense.
