Remember RichRod almost got UM on NCAA probation because of what he was doing. I think that might be the reason for so much involement from the AD.

This. The NCAA nailed Rodriguez for not monitoring what went on. The AD perching on RR's shoulder in the wake of the problem is designed to convince the NCAA not to be even tougher on them.

It was inside the Michigan program that ratted RR out. The problems in that program are internal.
