Then if you take highland from downtown to campus, that’s a shitshow.

you really think any of the coaches at LSU live downtown? who is commuting daily from downtown to campus?

Nobody with means is living downtown or north of downtown because of the industrial plants. If you have means and want to live "intown", you would pick something off of jefferson in the area north of 10/12, south of florida, and west of airline. South of independence park, maybe stay south of Goodwood. There are several nice areas off of jefferson extending on to tiger bend.

If you wanted out of the city, go southeast of campus on nicholson, pick something in one of those nicer newer subdivisions,

If you want out out of the city, keep going on hwy 30 and get a nice place in the duplessis area, or go further to dutchtown or across I10 something in praireville or galvez. You can actually cross the amite and get to I 12 if you want to go the florida beaches without heading towards baton rouge or towards new orleans.

or, if you could just live north of amite in livingston off of I12.

Baton rouge is not the "hood" you guys make it out to be. is not a large city but It is not that hard to avoid "bad areas",

unless you believe the coach at LSU needs to buy maypop tires, or has to have blue store chicken, he would never see the seedy side of baton rouge,

Now the zoo, i will give you. but It is not impossible to get to the zoo without seeing poor people, but if you some you will be okay.

The only thing to remember about LSU is to stay away from streets named after presidents.

A&M students have an organization called Big Event which is a weekend event in the spring where student volunteers go around the region and do service projects. Yard work, window washing, painting etc. It’s the largest student run organization in the nation. Elko has made it a requirement for all players to participate or they are held out of games in the fall.

It wouldn’t fix major infrastructure problems in BR the city should deal with, but it would absolutely make a difference in the community to do something like this. It’s free labor and donations. Promote it by incorporating tiger football. You guys care just as much as we do. It makes a big difference for an old ladys house everyone drives by to get a new paint job and have some trash picked up and some trees trimmed.

what is it needing to do? It has music, restaurants, sports.

Our restaurants here are nothing close to the restaurant scene in New Orleans, if we're being honest.

What music scene does Baton Rouge have, other than Live After 5, the Blues Fest, and whatever country music artist can sell enough tickets to halfway fill Tiger Stadium?

The truth is that Baton Rouge can have all of these things, but it would take a lot to attract creatives to the city. Our politicians are too shitty in the parish to get any of this done.

Neither Saban with his house on Highland Road or Kelly with his house on the LSU lakes seemed to have a problem with their respective areas. Will Wade lived down Nicholson toward U Club.

Round up as many bull dozers and dump trucks as possible and completely level north Baton Rouge. Start over and run out the criminals.

Outside of campus, this city is not pretty at all compared to other SEC cities.

Columbia, S.C. reminds me a lot of BR. Gainesville is actually much worse.

What’s Coach Sid been doing since he got elected? Seems like a whole lot of nothing.

Right on all three. My post was in response to a post talking about the music, restaurant, and entertainment options in Baton Rouge.

Pay a coach enough to come to LSU, and all three of those become irrelevant. A coach making $10 million a year can literally use time in the off-season to visit other places.
