If Mullen didn't go to Florida, I think it's highly unlikely LSU would land him.

Mullin all but Tommy Tubbervilled for the Florida job and didn't get an offer. It's not a matter of landing him.

Not sure if he would be interested. I mean he makes 2 million/yr. He is in a hotbed of highschool talent for recruiting and he doesn't ever have to compete with another major SEC school over talent. State pretty much handpicks. He is in StarkVegas. And State has such a history of winning that he finally is in a position to relatively easily build a program to compete for a NC year in and year out. Not a lot of SEC programs can offer Dan what he has in Armpit, MS pop. 143

I really dont think that UF went after Mullen. Of course I know that the Florida AD said that they focused on Muschamp and him only but I dont know that to be true either but I get the feeling from some other Florida fans, nothing substantial that Mullen was not at this time high on the list. Also, Although I truly think Mullen would be a good hire if Miles did leave, didn't espn report that he just signed a new contract with MSU for close to 10.6 million over the next 4 years. If so, can he get out of it?

Coaches can always get out of contracts, it's the employers that have to pay up if they fire a coach.

Mullen just got big raise and new contract with State. They buyout would not be worth the risk to take on him at this point.

OK. There is 0% chance that Mullen sees the end of this contract.

With Harbaugh gone, and Nick Saban not being a realistic possibility, Mullen would be my second choice behind Patterson.
