Would Cooper be promoted to DC if Chavis left?

I know most on here consider Cooper the best defensive coach on our staff right now, but I wonder if Les would promote him to DC after the debacle that was the Mallory/Peveto promotion.
I have to think Miles would be a little gun-shy about promotion from within and would go out and hire another proven DC or an NFL guy.

And why would he need to be promoted, are there any verifications that the chief is following fulmer to UVA if he gets the HC job.
FWIW, don't think the cooper move would be all bad, he's worked under some pretty heady DCs.
Edit: However, I would have to belive that to please Alleva and the fan base, he would have to get a tested DC.

people just assume this because fulmer and chavis have a close relationship.
