Jay Johnson, never won it all but been to omaha multiple times
Lincoln R seems like the equivalent for a football hire. Made the playoffs multiple times but can’t win the big game

Riley is the quickest fix as well.
Offense immediately better.
Recruiting class held together plus likely some steals from OU that committed to Riley, not the school.
Also likely to pilfer the OU roster thru transfer portal.
When you’re investing $100MM, you’re saying you want to de-risk the hire…not taking a flyer.

That is one of the greatest obsevations ever posted on droppings. Here is a quote from 2017 article on Riley:
THE COACH OF THE FUTURE
At 34, Oklahoma's Lincoln Riley is the undisputed wunderkind of football. Smiling, laughing, go go go—are you ready for what tomorrow feels like?
I was a Jimbo man but LR looks like he could be a sleeper.

And got his tail whipped in playoff games no thank you to a guy that $hits the bed and has had bad defenses his whole tenure at CHOKLAHOMA

Your taking a chance with Riley and his $hit for defenses!

Riley needs a home run hire for DC to win. Innovated offenses get figured out, and his defenses are as soft as charmin.
I think he could possibly succeed here, but he will need a strong staff around him.

The difference is that JJ had to go through regionals and super regionals to beat a whole lotta teams outside his conference to prove his worth getting to CWS.
Riley has not had to do that. He's been dominating a bad conference and goes straight to the playoffs and we've seen how he does against non B12 opponents.

Why? Was Darronte Jones a home run hire?

Miles & O won championships. Maybe we should hire one of them back?

Game. Just once by the greatest offense in CF history.
OU played Bama tight, and took UGA to 2OTs. And destroyed UF in a New Year 6 in Jan.

First half of the season Jones looked like a bad hire
The last 2 games the hire looks awesome
