A&M and Missouri came into the SEC and were immediately contenders and they were middle of the pack in the Big 12. This talking point is overrated, OU recruits nationally and should have no problem continuing to bring in top 5-10 classes.

And the SEC defense mantra is dead. Other than Georgia, who is playing good defense in the SEC, the games are shootouts every week
Yeah... I can find no mental gymnastics that point to OU getting weaker in recruiting by moving to the SEC.

Hell, right now Riley managed to recruit Isaiah Thomas [joke], Kevin Sumlin's kid, and has Mike Gundy's brother on staff [no joke]. There's something to such. There's an intangible there.

Mike Gundy's brother has been on OU staff since Bob Stoops was hired. He's a former OU football player.

You think that talent at qb is all needed to win? How about a defense, just a defense in general. LSU can provide that, obviously Oklahoma can’t. Recruiting hotbed is another obvious reason. Better yet, I think you answered your own question. With ou moving into the sec, why wouldn’t he want to go to a school that’s already been proven can complete in the conference. He’s not fixing to make the jump with ou into the sec and not lose less thab 2-3 games yearly

So two Heisman trophy winners and 0 Natty's for Riley.

Meanwhile LSU has had 1 Heisman trophy winner and 1 Natty with a buffoon for a coach.

With a coach like Riley, there is an attraction for Heisman potential QBs at any school, so the school is not the draw IMO but the coach.

Historically, LSU presents a better draw for the other side of the ball, defense. Particularly DBs. A coach like Riley only needs to hire a decent DC and he will have a team with great talent on both sides of the ball.

He will have a recruiting base in the most talent rich state per capita plus establish recruiting roads into Florida and Texas. With Texas recruits, he will not have the ingrained football rivalry to fight against as LSU is not nearly as negatively viewed as a player destination in Texas as Oklahoma is.

Those are my takes. I think The move to the SEC makes this jump more likely, rather than less likely. But I also do not think Riley will be the coach. Honestly have no clue who it will be. Damned tight ship our AD runs.
