Why wouldn’t Aranda be a good recruiter?

Just curious. The knock I’ve seen on here about Aranda is that he wouldn’t be as effective a recruiter as some of the other candidates. My question is: why do some think that? He’s not flashy, and maybe he couldn’t sell a program like some others, but sometimes people don’t like a salesman. They like stability, no nonsense, and a winner. I think he has those qualities. Just curious if I’m missing something about him.

Well you got Kirby with a billion dollar recruiting budget, Saban gets whoever he wants, Jimbo is in the state next door hauling in elite recruits.

LSU needs someone who is going to go into homes and convince these kids to come to LSU. Someone who is going to sell the frick out of LSU

I disagree. I think it's more important that the coach can sell himself as someone who can help the player progress in their development and get them to where they want to be and Aranda can not only say he can do that but he has the players to prove it. You can have another recruiter on staff for all the LSU rah rah stuff.

IDK, recruiting is huge in college football. Especially if you want to maintain elite status.

I think Aranda at LSU could certainly sell though.

I'm not disagreeing that recruiting is one of the most important aspects of college football. I am saying that I don't think we have to have a coach that can sell LSU as a brand. I think it's more important that the coach can show how he can develop the player and help them achieve their goals/dreams. I think that's why Aranda would be fine in terms of recruiting.

That’s all nice and all but LSU’s roster is easily behind Bama, UGA, and A&M. We need an elite recruiter to come in and bring LSU back to where they should be. The players that will help turn LSU back into a National power are all considering the 3 other schools mentioned. LSU needs someone that will convince them to come to LSU.

Recruiting is about effort. You can’t just be a great coach. Saban and Kirby are constantly on the phone with recruits and HS coaches. Joe Brady didn’t like that. Does Aranda?

Except we have had top 5 recruiting classes for the past few years now, and all our guys look lost on the field because our coaching has been lacking.

When we had good coordinators our talent really shined. With poor coordinators/coaches not so much. Kirby has out recruited LSU but yet lsu has won it all more recently than UGA. So if all that matters is having the top recruiting class then why can't UGA ever win it all?

The truth is the coach needs a blend of both good coaching and good recruits how heavily you weight each side is up for debate.
