Sexton is the one who said Texas is only job Saban would be interested in.

SI article this year, no?

I swear I'm not making this up.

Heard it quoted somewhere on TV.

Not recently, but during the season.
Oh yeah...one of Pete Thamel's infamous sources BOL has more credibility with things Auburn related than he does.

Sexton said that or the UT boosters said he said that? There is a difference.

He's playing for a NC in his first year? That's a pretty good record. Still, he's staying at Auburn if you couldn't tell by how eager he was to sign a long term contract with Auburn.

That's true but lets not pretend that Auburn dominated their schedule. It took a lot of hope and few prayers to get there. Texas should at least hire a coach with a track record of proven success as a HC at major program. Kudos to Gus for his performance this year - he deserves credit for it. That being said a program with the stature and resources of Texas needs to focus their search on candidates with a proven track record.

1. Gus and Kristi really do like Auburn
2. Gus approached JJ right when Pete Thamel's BS article came out and said the rumors weren't true and he wanted to make them go away and agreed to an extension without Jimmy Sexton present
3. He's playing in a NC with almost his entire team returning next year
4. Steve Patterson would not risk hiring a 1 year HC in his first year as AD

So it's questionable that Malzahn ever made the statement that Texas would be a dream job or that he was interested at some point prior this season?

Serious question.

Malzahn has a great job... His two daughters went to Auburn. He has spent 4 years at Auburn in the last 5. He is going for his second NC in that time, the future is extremely bright at Auburn. He knows if he flirts with Texas then he loses this years shot. I think winning it all means too much to any coach to screw that up.

8 years ago he was making a $100,000 grand. He is only behind Saban and Sumln in SEC salary.

PM opines
I’m not buying it.

I’ve not had a conversation with Malzahn about his interest any other job, including Texas. I know, however, he has told people that the report that he called Texas his “dream job” was bogus. Here’s what Malzahn said on Sunday after winning the SEC championship in his first Auburn season:

“This is where I want to be. I love Auburn. You start hearing rumors about this stuff. I didn’t want our players or coaches or fans to wonder how I felt. I want to be here, and I’m one blessed guy to be the head coach of the Auburn Tigers."

Malzahn doesn’t say something like that for effect. That’s not his style. If he says it, he means it.

He is loved by the Auburn fans. I am not worried at all.

You mean this SI report

SI

and if he didn't say it why didn't he deny it here?

AL.COM

If Texas offers he is gone. But they won't offer him.

Damn the Gumps want Gus gone bad. Total fear melt down for the Gumps. Does Saban even win another NC as long as the Gus Bus is parked in Auburn?

Considering he renegotiated and signed his contract without his agent just hours before he left to go to the SECCG, it's really not questionable at all. Thamel is full of shite. His obsession with Auburn is pretty well documented.

All of this. Plus Gus is a small town type of person. Don't know how comfortable he'd feel in Austin. He definitely wouldn't feel comfortable with the UT boosters all up in his business

Do you think we'd give him a raise without a buyout clause? It's a moot point though. UT could take care of anyone's buyout

So Kristi likes Auburn now? I guess she finally shut up like Gus wanted.

Also, it's hilarious how some of you clowns won't believe a single word that comes out of Saban's mouth, but you sit here and say, oh if Gus said it then he means it.

Can't imagine they like it more than Austin.
