Because he's nothing special when he has equal talent to work with. A lot of folks here can't grasp the disparity between good NFL coaches and college "greats".

Could not see Cowboys or Texans due to QB situation - Saban and Romo would not be a good fit and Jerry Jones and Saban would be a disaster.
The Falcons is another matter, with a franchise QB in Ryan - that I could see working if he wanted back in NFL and the Falcons owner is not a bad boss to have.

Exactly. It's not just about the game being different. NFL coaches are a different breed than college coaches. He'd have to coach against guys that are equally as talented and driven with comparable talent. In fact, he'd have to coach with less talent on a rebuilding NFL team.
At 65, that's not a sweet deal.
Texas is the only college that could offer him NFL money and program support. If he plans on only coaching a few more years Texas makes no sense. But if he wants to coach 10 more years like the deal is rumored to be, where else would he rather do that at than Texas?

The Washington job is going to be open in a few weeks...

He just turned 62 - like 5 weeks ago.

True... But he is always in those slide shows that show college coaches that failed in the NFL. You can't blame me, its the media!
