He is actually a great DC. Hasn't seemed as good as he really is given the strength of the offenses in the SEC West as of late. But he is a young up and coming coordinator with a solid scheme. Also is from LA and has recruited the state for Saban very well. Would love to have him back and simultaneously take him away from Bama (even if their common street Neanderthal fans don't know what they are losing).

Golding is not viewed the same way that Kirby and Pruitt were. He isn’t getting a promotion to head coach of a good program like they did, at least not anytime soon. Offense is now the focus at Bama, and it’s the OCs who will get all of the attention.
If Golding wants a better shot to move up the coaching ladder, he needs to move out of Saban’s and that offense’s shadow. He could get that here, or elsewhere. LSU just happens to be close to home for him.

Alabama has a top 10 defense. Top 5 if you only list power 5 teams. His defense just throttled Georgia.
