what so great about joseph? i googled his name and he does not seem to have alot of experience. And SF pass d was ranked like 20th

i just hope they hire someone who doesn't teach the db's to "watch the receivers eyes b/c they get big when the ball is approaching in the air," ie., don't watch the QB or the ball in the air, what a load of horse dung

I agree that the DB coach hire is maybe the most important hire beyond Chavis as DC.

I started a thread on the Rant last week asking what Chavis' strengths were and for the limited replies I got from Vol fans, Chavis is regarded as very strong against the run, and exceptional with linebackers. To be strong against the run implies good line play, too, leaving the secondary the biggest concern.

Ed O would have been nice, but more for recruiting and attitude than anything. The secondary coach though seems way more critical with regards to making the defense well rounded, as that is the biggest knock on Chavis.
