Just no connections. Charlie Strong has been in the conference, and I think will be the next black SEC head coach, but there has never been mutual interest expressed. Croom would be a good candidate, but he's doing well enough at Mississippi State that they will try to retain him. I do think that Croom should be approached (heck, maybe he has and said politely, no thank you. Maybe his agent isn't a dyed-in-the-wool robber.) and if he has interest, should be considered. He's worked minor miracles at Mississippi State.

I believe its more of a slap in the face of a minority if he knows he is in the interview because the BCA says we need to interview a minority. How would you feel as a white person going to Grambling for a coaches interview because the WCA said they had too. On your way into the building everyone is looking at you and speaking under there breath. "There is that white guy they said we had to interview" Step in those shoes for a minute. Everyone in either office including the coach that is there for the interview knows he isn't getting the job. That type of embarassment is worse that not getting a call at all. Heck leave the minority out of it unless he or she is a viable canadite. Let him/her save face and be proud of who they are as a person and not be little them to fill recommendations of a racist organization. (BCA)

I think most of them are coaching in the National Black Colleges Association which is apparently set aside just for them. That, of course, isn't racist at all. How many white coaches do they have, by the way?

Why does everyone always play the race card? Is it possible that there aren't any worth mentioning?

Is it possible that there are?

My beef with these "set asides" goes back to 1977 when LSU "declined" to admit me to a doctoral study program because I was a white male living in Louisiana. At that time, this BS was legal, and they were even so bold as to tell me what profile they were looking for.

I went on to another graduate school, and got my degree, and have done fairly well with it over the years. However, in spite of being a big tiger fan for the last 40 years, I will never forget that slap in the face.

Fortunately, shortly after that happened, another budding student filed a suit charging "reverse discrimination" for a similar incident in another state, and the Supreme Court ultimately agreed with him.

Anyway, doing shite just because it is "race" and "feel good", and "politically correct" is just stupid. I think there are quite a number of other educated persons who would agree with my contention.

General when one has a conversation/debate about who they want for a Coach, they consider skill, experience, drive, desire, power as well as numerous other factors, race is not one of them.

Obviously your trying to start a battle that has no place here, nor anyone here wishes to engage in. Get Lost.
