I see. I don't expect him to have to contribute anytime soon, and hopefully we will be playing Kiehl at QB from now on. I'm tired of seeing Moseley and Trotter. If we are going to suck at QB, do it with a guy that has the higher ceiling and running ability.

Supposedly signed a big extension today

Did not know that.

I honestly think they would be better off going back to a pro-style. If they go with another incarnation of the spread option, they will basically be putting all of their eggs in the Frazier basket. If he doesn't improve a lot, they would be pretty fricked on offense.

At least Kiehl provides somewhat of a running threat. He doesn't seem to be much of a passer yet, but neither is Moseley. Apparently Trotter is just there for moral support now.

Go back to a Pro-Set OC, Aubie is a recent BCS crystal winner, one with three unbeaten seasons in the last 20 yrs, thus can recruit at an elite level.

Malzahn was great, and I find him interesting, but I'd move away from a Spread/Gadget-O/Exclusive Shotgun type guy, back to a smashmouth guy. Not saying give up utilizing the spread, no-huddle, hurry-up, just would would try get back to being RBU of the SEC that Aubie has oft been.

Aubie recruits better defensive guys than does Arky..you don't have to live in the Shotgun and win shootouts every week most seasons.

And as noted with Aub and Fla, once the Leak, Tebow, and Cams are gone, or even say Craig, Campbell, etc..gotta get back to the basics.

Aubie through the recent decades has usually had a QB with some mobility and size, which is needed vs LSU and Bama, as they both have talent galore on D, and collapse the pocket on many downs, making for a need to ad-lib positive yardage on so many busted plays.

My thoughts exactly. And now, every QB we have is going to have to completely learn a new offense. W have had horrible QB play all season, yet we burned a RS year for Kiehl just to let him run the wildcat and throw a couple of passes that were designed for him to not even read a defense. I just don't understand it at all.

Please, PLEASE let us hire Mark Stoops so our defense is worth a damn again.

It was just pure coincidence. I was just talking to an AU friend IRL who was saying Zeke Pike is an idiot.

I also think changing to a more pro style, power run game will improve your defense. I know that at BAMA, they like to run the first string defense against the first string offense all throughout camp. What's our offense known for? Running it down the other team's throat, and short to mid-range passes. What's our defense known for? Stopping the run and not giving up short to mid-range passes.

Do you see where I'm going with this?

Who's a good option for the Pro Style and who is a good option for the Spread?

I definitely do, and that is why I would prefer us moving away from the spread. We have softened up on defense since Malzahn has been there. It's obvious that the defensive guys were used to chasing down our speed during practice, and not used to hard-nosed, physical football. We have the athletes for either system, but moving away from the HUNH would also help us chew up some clock and get the defense a rest.

Whatever happens, it needs to happen FAST...

We could lose TJ Yeldon and Ricky Parks, and AU-Nation would meltdown.

Ricky Parks I can believe just based on that recent tweet I saw (I think you posted it), but are you really worried about Yeldon? I always felt like the best thing we had going was his teammate playing for us. AU can promise more playing time, IMO, and I assume he grew up an AU fan.

Mainly because other coaches will be in his ear constantly now...

I do agree with this. And yes, he grew up an Auburn fan from what I've heard.

I think IF THERE IS a positive of all this, it's that Chizik has known Gus would eventually take another job. He probably has a good idea of who to hire, or try to hire. It's not like this is a complete shock (that Gus is actually leaving).

Yea I still think Yeldon is all AU as long as Chizik and Luper are there.

I'm hopeful...

The last week has consisted of:

1) Dyer being suspended
2) News of OMAC probably leaving for the NFL Draft
3) Stoops to Auburn not happening, as reports said...
4) Gus leaving for stAte

Now is your chance to boot the spread from the SEC altogether. Don't dissappoint.

No doubt. I think we've witnessed the beginning of the death of the spread this year in college football.
