It’s a place to kill your head coaching career aspirations. Outside of Dinardo and Franklin no coach in the last 40 years has used it to get a better gig.

It’s not about precedent it is about opportunity. Vandy has had a history of hiring bad coaches but that doesn’t detract from the possibility a young could find diamond in rough recruits and have them play well. If Vandy had a history of success there wouldn’t necessarily be such a good opportunity . They didn’t win a game this year but are still an sec team. USCe would take a miracle to beat Clemson /uga out for recruits then win a SEC championship. A coach that could do something like that isn’t going there in the first place.

The rest of their coaches went to Vandy to die. Watson Brown's only accomplishment at Vanderbilt was when they beat LSU after Todd Kinchen was called for offensive PI. I think I broke a bone in my foot after that call.

They hire bad coaches because no one wants the job. It's a terrible job that kills a coaches career.
If it's a young hot shot coach they can hold out for something better.
