What's a better coaching job?

A bottom tier SEC job like Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt or Kentucky? Or a top tier non-AQ job like TCU or Boise State?

Depends on your goals. Winning 6 or 7 games at Vandy makes you look like a genius. Stay above .500 at Vandy and Kentucky and you'll have a long career at that school. What have guys at TCU or Boise State gone on to do later? Fran got both the Bama and aTm jobs, but that's the sole exception for TCU. Kotter took the ASU job and, meh.
Mississippi State and Ole Miss can be stepping stones for bigger and better things - not sure about the weak SEC-E teams, TCU or Boise.

Actually, I wasn't looking at those jobs as stepping stones, but permanent jobs. The things I was looking at is that it's easier to win and go to the BCS at TCU and Boise State. As for the stepping stone thing, besides Franchione at TCU, Boise State's last three coaches landed jobs at Arkansas, Arizona State and Colorado respectively, for whatever that's worth.
Furthermore, before he got fired at Colorado, Dan Hawkins was making less than Chris Petersen, and I'm quite certain that Gary Patterson, at $3 million, is making more than the coaches at the four SEC schools mentioned. And remember, Florida State had been used as a stepping stone before Bobby Bowden got there and Virginia Tech was viewed similarly before Frank Beamer got there.

Both are in AQ conferences, Boise moved last year.

i think a non-AQ job is better. different expectations, lower competition. it must suck to be ole miss or kentucky going up against 5 teams a year with 4 times your budget
