I know this is an out of the box suggestion, but step back and look at a few things in his favor before you judge.

- A top offensive mind with a proven track record across multiple programs.

- A family background in coaching that gives him some extra seasoning that most coordinators who’ve never been head coaches don’t have.

- A good recruiter who can attract high-level QBs with his system. This is a key element that few of our rumored targets address. Kiffin is really the only other one.

- He’s a young guy with a lot of years ahead of him. Other than the NFL, you don’t have to worry too much about him leaving if he’s successful.

In my opinion, he checks a lot more boxes than Stoops or BOB. His offensive skills could put him ahead of guys like Campbell. With the right staff, I think he could be a home run hire.

As for hiring coordinators, go look at playoff and title winners the last 20 years. Promoted top coordinators have a good record of success. We are likely about to see another on get his in a few weeks in Kirby.

You’d be better with Lebby

I’d like him as OC not HC

I like Lebby too, but he’s an OU alum. I’m guessing he ends up there.

i thought he was making progress in the first half of the year. Watching with my Arky buddies the last few weeks, his calls have been as bad as Petz.

He is solid. KJ Jefferson was never meant to do what he did this year. But Briles is not HC material yet. As OC though? Sure.

Look at his current offense in comparison with his past gigs. I feel like Pittman is holding him back with a more conservative overall philosophy. I think he’s gone from Arkansas for a head gig this year because of it, assuming the right head job is offered.

I wouldn’t even want him as an offensive analyst

No one is pulling him as an OC. He Elko and Lebby are all getting head jobs this off-season or next.
