Yeah I'd must rather hire a shitty OC that nobody would want...
Hell I hope after 2 yrs other teams are drooling at the thought of our OC being their HC!!!

Gerry Dinardo uttered those exact words after Morris Watts left. The rest is history.

I'll take Chryst for 2 years while BG gets more experience in the pro style offense and then let BG take over when Chryst leaves.
Works for me. In that two years, a real shot at a BCS championship should also be included.
How LSU finished 89th in total offense this year with the talent it has is truly mystifying. Any OC who takes even a glance at our roster will leave 90 percent of the schools out there to be the OC at LSU right now. The roster is loaded and the defense should be championship caliber again.

Florida hired Charlie Weiss, an OC with 4 SB rings. Auburn has Malzahn, the Flavor of the Month OC in college football. Arkansas has Petrino, who is considered an offensive genius. Under these circumstances, I think hiring a "name"--a real high profile guy--has to be a consideration. Seems to me we need to let recruits know we're as serious as our competitors about bringing top talent on staff.

Can we please not adopt this saying. I do not want to be associated with a team that just used this to justify playing a kid that has proven to be trash, by stealing, cheating, and shopping his services. And by saying this they basically said hey, who cares if we may get nailed by the NCAA, play him if we have a chance of winning.
We have a lot more character than that.

who will jump ship as soon as a mid-major or better HC job comes along?
If a coordinator is successful, they will be hired elsewhere. I don't want a guy that no one wants to hire. Are you telling me you wouldn't want Gus Malzhan as your OC just because he will likley get a head coaching job in a year or two?

Then maybe we should just go after Lynn Amedee...i'm sure he'd like his old job back.
