WHat exactly about Bill O'brien makes you think he'd be the home run hire for us?

Smart, innovative offensive mind.

Has produced good offenses everywhere he's been, and has produced winning football teams everywhere he's been despite some difficult situations, the most latest dealing with a GM he doesn't see eye to eye with.

Signed the No. 1 HS QB recruit in the country. How he is as a recruiter is still in question, but that's a good sign.

Young-ish, turning 46 just a few weeks ago.

Plenty of college experience paired with pro experience.

Not a chance in hell Patterson leaves TCU with the money he gets here.

I don't know if it's the right hire for LSU but Justin Fuente is going to be a huge hire for a big team. The turnaround he has done for the Memphis program is incredible.

I prefer Fuente over Herman personally.

Dang I forgot he had the short stop over at Penn St. I truly believe that "if" a move is made their guy will be lined up and the announcement will be made very quickly on who he is. It won't be a fricking clown show that goes on for weeks. I truly believe that guy would be Jimbo. Fisher love LSU and Louisiana and knows he will be king of the hill over here. Not saying that he is not at FSU but he knows that he has to compete with Florida and Miami(I know not for some time but that will change at some point) year in and year out.

depending on who you believe but a Jimbo/Bo P package was all lined up for last season but the 49ers had to be assholes.

reading about Jimbo's buyout on the TR makes me wanna cry.

quote:

Not only would LSU owe Les Miles over 10M in buyouts, Jimbo's contract carries a 5M buyout, and a clause that states he also has to buyout any assistant that isn't retained by the new coach, which adds another 5M.

Patterson is a defensive coach...he wouldn't hire someone to run a different defense than his own.

O'Brien would be on the top of my list. Like Miles I think he is a good man. Look at what he did at Penn State and you have to wonder what he could accomplish here. I think his son's situation makes him better suited to college than the NFL. He is an offensive guy, but has had exposure to the Belichick system.

Keep Orgeron, Moffit, and Frank because he is unfamiliar with recruiting in the South.

I think the lack of a QB will get him fired in the NFL. Also, his GM and Owner aren't helping him. I think he would fit well here.

He is the first guy I would contact through back channels. He isn't going to the playoff with the Texans.

Wow, five pages and no mention of the clear cut #1 target?

Obviously a few TriDelts and KD's will have to be sacrificied, but damn it, we have to make it happen!

If a change is made, no assistant should or will be forced on the new head coach.

Come on, y'all

yes but a new guy coming in would be foolish not to at least retain O and Wilson.

Everyone else....do what you want.

Not saying it should be demanded. I'm just saying retaining those 3 would be the smart move for recruiting and coaching.

Hackenberg was already signed to PSU. All he did was continue to stay committed. O'Brien didn't do anything to sign him.
