What does NIL commitment mean in today's world?

Serious question. Since the current rules say that all NIL has to be real and not pure pay to play, when we hear LSU has a $30 million NIL commitment, what can that even go to?

can go to HS nil, front loaded.

This is actually a great question.
The 30 million figure must be a combination of revenue sharing (direct pay) and NIL.
Under the House settlement, revenue sharing is capped. There is no way to secure a competitive advantage over other schools willing to pay the maximum.
Additionally, pursuant to the House settlement paradigm, NIL deals will be scrutinized by a clearinghouse to determine if they are a legitimate exchange of value, and can be challenged.

I believe the new rules start next July. I think it's a great compromise, but there will be lawsuits out the kazoo.
