People forget that he turned around a complete dumpster fire inherited directly from Charlie Weis (and Ty Willingham before that) and brought ND back into national prominence while maintaining a strong track record of program discipline and academic success. Who can forget watching ND in the mid-2000s, meandering listlessly and trying to harken back to the days of Knute Rockne and Ara Parseghian. Brian Kelly brought that back in an extremely challenging program to manage given the academic requirements.

Now think of a second of what he'll be able to do with the players he can recruit here. This is a grand slam hire.
