We Should Have Made Coach O Land Kiffin 100% Before Hiring Him

That should have been the biggest stipulation with hiring coach O. If it proves to be true I'll feel a little bit better about this hire, but why on earth did we have to make a decision today? We should have just waited to see who Orgeron could realistically get at OC before we signed him. If we don't get a good OC, we are fricked.

Meh, we're prolly fricked anyway.

My only reasoning is Alleva must have received a call from Kiffin himself saying he's on board.

That is the only thing that makes sense to me.

Alternatively you could have hired someone who you don't trust unless he makes a slam dunk OC hire

Kiffin the guy that tosses the ball around in the backfield to players sweeping in full sprint?

kiffin is profiting off of having the best defense in the country and the best talent of any team in the country. the dude is literally playing madden on easy mode. to think he is the answer O needs is laughable

Why do people keep acting like Kiffin is so great? He's not even Cajun, ffs. Where's his damn binder?

I've heard from a secondhand source that Kiffin is pretty much in. He's enjoying the easy win with Saban, but he hates working under him. He's expected to be here in January.

Didn't you know being a Louisiana man makes you a better coach somehow?

I don't think y'all could have gotten a 100% commitment from him right before a playoff run.

Hell, you won't get a 100% commitment from him until any HC opening that is appealing to him is filled.

After his playcalling in the first quarter today lots of Bama fans would help him pack.

I don't think programs are convinced he is HC material yet. As long as he has Saban over him, nothing he does will be taken as something Saban did.

If there is one thing Lane Kiffin is known for, it's staying true to his word

-More money (HC-level money)
-Long-time friend and fellow coach O
-Complete autonomy over offense
-Likely a better quality of life at work -under O than under Saban

I think the better question is why would he NOT make the move? It's like the best of both worlds.., more $$$ and less bullshite. Not to mention he and O obviously have a good relationship and have looked forward to "teaming up" again

I would argue that Saban reining him on playcalling has greatly benefited Lanes effectiveness

It wasn't long ago that Bama fans were screaming because Lane forgot about the running game too quickly

It's such a risky gamble for his coaching careeer to leave Bama for the same job

We were screaming it today in the first half. The playcalling was 70% pass/30% run.

Then Saban crawled up his arse at halftime.

I seriously can't think of a single game where he hasn't called some kind of whatthefrickery.

He's a QB wizard but he has to have a firm hand guiding his playcalling and reeling him in when he gets too cute for his own good.
