What's funny is that people in this thread say they don't think that the offense he used tonight would work in the SEC. WTF? Do people not watch Lane Kiffin at Bama? What was he doing with Blake Sims and Amari Cooper for an entire year? What has he been doing with Jalen Hurts this year?

What the hell did Herman do to Saban's unstoppable defense? What did Herman do to Fisher, and y'all want Fisher? To put Herman down at all to prop up Fisher is a fool's errand. Tell me how many times Saban has lost to a pro style offense in the last 5 years?

Do people not realize that Herman didn't even have his top 2 RBs in this game?

hiring can get complicated as hell and rarely does a school actually get who their target is. bama got saban and only because he wasn't happy in the nfl and Michigan got Harbaugh (lucky because he was about to be canned). the VAST MAJORITY of the time, it takes several candidates until the situation fits. believe me, Fisher would be tough to hire. his divorce muddles it up big time. just about every coach has some issue so we'll see. fortunately we're first and there is a lot of good talent out there.

Its all about timing, but you have to MAKE the timing right. OSU knew Meyer was going to be available, so they went with an interim for a whole season, Michigan showed Hoke the door, knowing Harbaugh would be on the market, and Bama tossed a 10 win coach to the curb to get Saban.
LSU is handling this better than they have ever handled a coaching search and going all in on this hire. (all the others seemed like last minute, last resort, or cheap hires) Firing miles this early means they get a head start and can target who they want, instead of being pressured into taking best available option.
