Good news because I think 1 and 2 (jimbo and Riley) are out.

If MOU isn’t signed with 1 or 2 (assume Riley, Dabo or JF), you could make the case Aranda in a strong position to ultimately be the hire as the whales are a tough pull.

I am hearing the same but last night I was told we have not been told no yet on tier 1 guys but tier 2 guys are getting closer looks.

If we get to tier two look for the battle to between Dave and Napier.

I agree. I can't think of anyone else who should be above him in the tier 2 category of coaches

We may have been in Tier 2 from the start despite obscene record breaking compensation numbers

I’ll take it. I think LSU would be in great hands with either of the two.

I personally don't agree with that but obviously I am not the one calling the shots. To me Napier's jump from sun belt to sec is riskier than Arandas minimum HC sample size.

Would welcome Aranda to stabilize our program. I think he could be a home run as long as he recruits well.

I agree. For a coach of a top tier program to jump to another top tier program something has to be wrong internally at their current school. I just don't think money or better recruits is going to pull one of these established guys away from their current school, but I hope I am wrong.

Thanks. My response was. Our tier two are light years better than what we have … with huge upside. So I am good.

Aranda would be a very solid hire. If we end up even considering Napier we really need to take hard look at ourselves as a program.

Is Riley still our guy? I’d imagine yesterday would make his decision easier, no?

Yes we may have. But you have to take your shot. Make ‘em say no.

Dave's ace is he was the real football guru on this staff while he was at LSU. He never received the credit he should have. Losing him was one of the biggest reasons we slipped so much last year.

Dave is a damn good coach. Lsu can hire recruiters!

I agree 100% and I also think Dave is smart enough to recognize his weaknesses as a coach and fill his staff with the right people to complement him.

we can, but it is an uphill climb in recruiting when your HC isn’t involved or isn’t good at it.

Not to say Dave can’t, but if we are assuming that for the moment, that’s a huge disadvantage.
