Their requirements maybe higher, and ND is a good school, but it isn't Stanford or Duke. USC, UofM, Cal, GaTech are but a few of the schools that are right up there with ND. ND enjoys a much larger recruiting base than any of them with perhaps the exception of SC (about even). Weiss's recruiting classes have been much better than all of those except USC. The problem there is simply coaching.

Why would UM leave UF?
Meyer would definitely consider an ND offer, just as Miles would a UofM offer.

I don't think Meyer would leave but here's why he might if the Gators repeat:
1. Florida will be talented but inexperienced at key areas next year. That inexperience will cost them a game or two or even three.
2. Meyer will have won 3 out of 4 national championships. Things won't get better than that at Florida.
3. He clearly has a soft-spot for the dome.
4. Notre Dame will create a new challenge. He was challenged to win at Utah and did. He then took the next challenge at Florida and did it better than anyone. Notre Dame could be the ultimate challenge. Revive that storied program and he could go down as the greatest college coach of all time.
There are obvious counter-arguments, and I think those counterarguments keep him in Gainesville. But these are four reasons why I could see him do it.
