DuBose, Milsaps Coach, has applied(Run off at Alabama for pulling a "tiger")
Tommy Bowden has applied, could be the front runner.
Way back in the pack is Don Shows, 68 year old West Monroe High School coach. Can you even imagine?

It's the Shows way to "float" his name for any coaching vacancy in the NELA area in hopes of beating the Rebel Club out of more dough.

Possibly, but he would actually have to do some work. I feel bad for the good ol' WM folk that live in fear of the day he retires.

Meh...I'm not too worried about it. Fwiw, I think he'll retire this year if we win it all.

Right, but there's a large contingent that lives and breathes Rebel Football. Also, you know I'm not bashing, just an observation.

I follow WM football religiously, but I'm just not that worried about him leaving...we'll find someone good to replace him.

ULM does not have the money to get any of the coaches that they are talking about. Until they get a homeboy who can beat the bushes for money/support, turn out a competitive team, and get the local support they are in trouble.

Weatherbie was the lowest paid BCS coach in the nation. ULM Admin has promised to double his salary.

Right with the first sentence but completely wrong in the second one. Cofer and Staub have been very upfront in saying that there is no more money in the budget for coaches. In fact, they have said there will probably be even more money trimming. Cofer and Staub said the only way to get the coaches greater salaries is for the boosters to raise a shitload of money. Fast. With the enormous apathy around ULM football, I have my doubts that happens.

There seems to be a disconnect from reality among the football crowd at ULM in that they don't seem to comprehend just how dire the situation is there. One booster was quoted as saying they should go after Malzahn.

They really need to return to 1-AA/FCS. They were a lot better there. It is rather hard to get folks to support a school's program that has not had a winning season since it went 1-A.
