I remember learning of what this guy had done at a dead program last year and being very very impressed. Can anyone explain why he hasn't been named as serious candidate for bigger jobs(especially this off-season) like Lsu, OK, ATM etc?

David Reeves is his name.

He is getting looked at by SMU, along with Baker. Potential dark horse.

The question last year I believe, was how much was him or how much was the hc in charge of the defense

If it is the head coach then they should consider him for DC instead. I’m sure they could pay him more than what he makes as HC for UAB.

This isn't directed specifically at you, but I don't understand why people continue to think that money is all it takes to hire a coach. Some guys want to be in charge. Throwing money at someone doesn't mean they will suddenly want to go from being in charge to taking orders from someone else.

I don't know the UAB HC ambitions or if he would consider making a move from HC to DC. I am just saying, in general, people need to stop thinking that just because LSU has money to throw around we should be able to nab any coach that pops in to our heads. People set themselves up for disappointment with that line of thinking.

That’s a fair point. I wasn’t trying to imply that money was the only consideration, only that it wouldn’t be an obstacle. Obviously if Clark wants to stay a head coach, he wouldn’t consider a DC job. It’s just not unprecedented for a G5 head coach to take a P5 coordinator job. Dan Enos left his HC job at C. Michigan to become OC at Arkansas.

True. That's a good point as well.
