Herman has said he wants to stay in TX, so if they fire Strong...

I keep seeing people see this. When and where did he say this?
...I've been wondering the same. Could someone provide a link?

Only by speaking the truth. He embarrassed them by saying what everybody was thinking instead of joining the BS propaganda cheer squad when they struck out on everyone they really wanted and hired Strong. And what he said has been proven to be correct: the man is a capable position coach or even coordinator if the talent is high enough, but he's out of his depth running a program of that magnitude.

They were just going to let him founder with no support but they wisely decided to support his recruitment efforts with the full bagman team in order to provide the next coach with a full talent cupboard. Covert Ford is passing out new trucks like Bud at a NASCAR race. The unintended consequence is that even given the ineptitude of Charlie, they've purchased enough talent now to fumble and bumble their way to 7 wins in the weak BigXII, which is too many to fire Charlie this year.

No, because there is no link. He's spent most of his career in the state of Texas at small directional-type schools but only one at UT as a graduate assistant. From that everyone thinks UT is his "dream job".

Texas will have an image issue if it forces out Strong...when they beat ND in the first game, the players carried Strong off the field...my guess is that the players will have a big issue with Texas running him off.

That's because the players thought that was a huge win, which it turns out was not the case. ND sucks and Texas barely beat them at home at night in two OTs. Not impressive

If Red McCombs ran Texas, Mack Brown would still be coaching. He's senile

You're an idiot if you think it would end up being who could outspend the other. You think LSU couldn't pony up just as much as UT? Of course we could, because there is a market value for coaches, and no one is going to pay a coach 30 million a year.

Wrong. The real $ for the Texas HC is not in their contract. If they win, the oil guys become their buddies and cut the HC into all kinds of deals. Dwarfs the coaching contract $

UT players are tanking so badly on D..they play like they want Stronng canned..

Strong will not survive..

Gonna come down to whether Herman wants SEC, or Mickey Mouse Finesse Conference.
