Lane Kiffin

Butch Davis--Has removed his name from consideration.

Mike Leach--T-Tech is scrambling to keep him.

These are the three names that are being tossed around by area radio shows. Supposedly they are wanting Kiffin big time, and have put Davis on hold because of this. Leach is the wildcard.

I hope they hire Kiffin. So do UGA and UF coaches and fans.

It'll be interesting. It's an important hire for them.

Rocket, 4-2-5 is in the family of nickel defenses, is it not? It is a nickel "package," correct?

You don't need to validate it. You are right.

Huge hire for UT. They make the wrong choice and the program could be down for years, i.e Hallman after Archer

I think Skip Holtz and Will Muschamp should be considered.

Kiffin seems more like a Syracuse person. UT would be idiotic to hire him. He has done nothing. Plenty of big fish would love to coach in the SEC.

Kiffin is a west coast guy and I think he'd rather have the Washington job than the taking over the Orange.

If I was UT I'd be all over Brian Kelly. He's at Cincy now, so he knows that Ohio area and has proven to be a pretty good coach.

I don't see Butch Davis leaving N.C. for Tenn., but I guess it's a possibility. I think he holds out for Penn State or Florida State. (Before you say it's Jimbo's job, do you think the Fl. State Athletic Director is going to turn down Davis to hire Fisher? The fans would forgive that.)

I could see Leach leaving Tx Tech, but I don't think Tenn wants KY's old off. coordinator.

FWIW and IMO.

I heard on ESPN radio yesterday that Chucky's name has been thrown in for a college gig. I want to say that they were saying that while talking about UT, but I am not sure. Of course his name gets thrown in every year.

He'll be Nick Saban's Offensive Coordinator at Washington in 2009.........
