this is like an Onion article

quote:

"Todd's going to be here, Todd's happy here, Todd's family's happy here -- I think he's a really good fit at ASU, style-wise and with the community," he said. "I think he's going to have a lot of success here for a lot of years."

I actually think that would be a good hire.

Graham has done a tremendous job, identifies talent in recruiting... Needs to get rid of that Les Miles esque headset though.

They talk about that in the link but state that if Patterson wants him bad enough and can convince UT, then whoever this writer's source is, thinks they could find some kind of legal loophole.

I would laugh my arse off if UT has gone through all this embarrassing stuff, hires Graham, and then gets sued, loses, and ends up looking again for a coach in fricking July.

It would be like Mike Pricing yourself.

more likely would be them hiring him which alerts Jerry Jones to the new hot coach. Days later he's hired away by the Cowboys as he claims the "5 second rule" indemnifies him. The meltdown first with his hire and then with him leaving in the middle of the night would be pretty epic though.

There's supposedly some legal entanglement that would prevent Graham from going to UT without the ASU president's consent, but I cannot imagine a means by which that would hold up. It seemingly stemmed from disgruntlement over former Sun Devils athletic director Patterson leaving ASU to become the new AD in Austin.
If Patterson can convince the board and the president that Graham is a solid fit, he could rise.

Graham would be the ideal TV candidate. But then there's always the he-moves-around-a-lot narrative (he spent just one season at Pittsburgh before leaving for the Arizona State job) that might not resonate well with the Horns.

seems to think they could get around the legal stuff.

I thought there was a clause in Patterson's contract where he can't poach ASU coaches.

98% of college coaches would leave Texas to coach the Dallas Cowboys or in the NFL.

Even Mack Brown isn't enough of an incompetent buffoon for Jerry Jones.

This isn't happening.

I dislike the guy a lot, but he is beloved by most of the fan base. He just went on television again today assuring everyone how happy he was at ASU. And there is that nasty Patterson clause which doesn't allow him to hire anyone from ASU.

Ain't happening.

I don't think Graham will be the guy either, but don't ever believe what they say. Sark did the exact same thing on the Seattle sports station here and then was announced the new head coach of USC a couple of hours later

Every contract has a price. If Texas really wants Graham and Graham really wants to go there, he will be the head coach.

This guy is college footballs biggest whore. Left Tulsa mid-season to roll over to Pitt. Pretty sure he didn't finish the year out at Pitt either before making the trip to Tempe. Dude's a slimeball
