I know y'all were hoping for Herman or Fisher, but is O really that bad?

Personally, I NEVER thought Fisher was in play. I also doubt how good he really is. He did a lot of winning with Jameis and Pruitt, but has he really done much outside of that? He may well have been a better pick than O (were he actually interested), but he's no Saban.

And Herman...well, I was hoping y'all would get him. LSU is my second favorite SEC team and I had hoped someone in the west could start challenging BAMA and give some balance. Still, he's had his up and down moments, too. Until a week ago, he had lost some luster over the course of this season. He may well have been a homerun hire, but he could just as well have been the next Charlie Strong (who also looked very good at Louisville before flaming out at UT).

I don't know if O is the right guy, long-term, but he could be a lot better than y'all think...especially with the right supporting cast. Some of you are bashing what he did with your talent this year, but as an outsider, I don't think he did that poorly. Your best RB has suffered through injuries most of the year. You didn't have a QB at the beginning of the season and, while Etling has been pretty good since, he's not one of your "first-round talent" guys. When you get one who is, you're gonna be good. O needs a good OC hire (Kiffin would do it, but not sure that's realistic just yet).

The Florida game....I had hoped for better. But it happens. O kept y'all closer to BAMA than any other team has been all year. Moral victory, I know. But it's as close as anyone will get this year, most likely. I say, hang in there. You guys might be surprised.

And don't feel bad on falling for all the "sauces". Georgia fans know that carousel all too well. Sometimes, you gotta sit back and let things just play out.

I think it's a real good hire for them. I don't think Herman or Fisher care anything about winning at LSU. All they want is the paycheck. O will coach to win.

I realize he's a gamble, but they ALL are at this point. He failed at Ole Miss, but a lot of coaches would. Perhaps that just isn't the elite job with the elite talent pull that it/they think they are?

Or filled in well at USC if I recall. I think if he can get top recruits, he's already got the upperclassmen buying in. LSU could be very good, very quickly.

I think coach O will bring in a good OC and will have success. It's obvious the players love him and I think he will recruit at a high level.

When everyone that replies to this thread that thinks O is good hire, is literally a fan of another SEC team that should speak volumes about coach O

O is better than Miles simply because of the fact that he wants to blow teams out and will stay out of the offense. Miles was a great recruiter and motivator- so is O.

I think Herman is a great coach and obv would have preferred Jimbo, but not Gundy or Fedora. Give O an elite OC and we will be really good.

Seriously? I can't speak to everyone else but, as I stated, I like LSU. I'm not rooting against you (I will admit watching a melt is fun, no matter who it is, but that's another issue).

I actually think you may do well with this pick. And anyone who watched the emotional decision-making by Alleva last year with Miles could have predicted this outcome as soon as O was announced as interim HC.

What's the reasoning? I kinda think he's a coattail-riding POS, but that's just me.

I Agee with that last statement. I've been saying O was going to be named the HC for quite a while now.

I am not against the hire but I feel like the administration needed to conduct a thorough coaching search. Frustrating to know we fired and hired a coach all in the same season. I fee like there were other possibilities out ther waiting for their season to end before reaching out.

You may be right, but you never really know. Honestly, I don't Jimbo will ever be a player unless he's got a hot seat at FSU. And if that were to ever be the case, why would you want him?

Herman has had his heart set on Texas from the get-go. I really don't think LSU was ever in it for him (other than for negotiating leverage). I could be wrong, but he's a Texas guy.
