Thoughts on a one year deal for a coach internally?

This thought just kind of crossed my mind. Everyone is saying that getting a new coach this late is BS. We wont get a big name, and it hurts us in recruiting. So say you give one of the coaches....say Ensminger... a one year deal?? That way we keep all Chavis, Wilson, brooks, etc... He hires a new OC, and we dont take a major hit in recruiting. Like I said, it would be a one year deal. So.... if we have a great season, give him an extension....if not, we have PLENTLY of time to get that big name at the end of the season, and recruits wont be left out to dry in January like this year.
UNDERSTAND THIS. I am not saying I want this!!!... but I would not be upset if it did in fact happen. What do yall think?

Recruiting is the issue by doing this. Kids want to know the coach will be there for 4 years.

wait, what? you're talking a 1 yr deal for a coach already on staff (which is nuts in and of itself), and the guy you suggest is....

True...and I did think of that. But I REALLY want to hold this class together. I think it is just that damn good. But I certainly get your point. Like I said, it was just a random thought.

ONLY cause Chavis says he has no WANT to be a head coach. Obviously he would be the first choice. But after him, who would you go with. BG?

Not the worst idea, if we couldn't get someone that was deemed up to par. What makes it so tough is that its so late in the game to be hiring a coach.

uhh, not to mention the uncertainty with the coaches you're wanting to keep. you think guys with the coaching/ recruiting reps of Frank, Chavis, or Joe Rob are gonna stick around with that kinda uncertainty looming? "hey guys, stay here while we find a coach for next yr who probably will want his own staff." the class and the staff would get raided.

Exactly my point!!.... if we were in mid...hell, late Dec. I would not have ever dreamed of this notion.
