You people (and me included) jump out of your seats to fire someone who cannot consistently win more than 8 games. Then we go and want to hire someone who will consistently win 7-9 games. The Jimbo hype on here is madness. The man has been coasting into retirement for sometime now. This has been said by those close to him on various occasions. Further, he has yet to attempt to modernize or recalibrate his outdated offense. Sure he is a big name and will bring some consistency (7-9 game wins type of consistency), but you're fooling yourselves if you think this man still has the same ceiling that he did back at FSU. #saynotojimbo

The ceiling with any coach depends on what players he has.

Like I said, he is not the same coach he was at FSU. The game has changed and he has not. He is 26-10 as Aggies HC by the way. The numbers seem to make sense now.

Some of us want Urban Meyer, but most of you MFers balk at that idea every time. It amazes me. Yeah, he's got a little baggage, but so what? I'll carry that baggage for constantly winning 12+ games a year.

He was at Florida for 6 seasons and Ohio State for 7. LSU would most likely be his last stop. I bet we'd get 8+ years and a couple of National Championships out of him.

7-9 wins from Jimbo?!? Are you fricking kidding me?

Dude is building a monster at A&M. Anyone who denies that is a fricking moron

He will do the same here but do it quicker than he has at A&M

i feel like urban is actually a more realistic option. he's much more suited for the college game and i think he ends up back in college ball by next season, the only question is where

I agree 100%. Someone will overlook how many asses he's played with. His resumé is far and away the second best in college football. Some big name program absolutely will hire Urban Meyer. He may not be ready to leave the NFL just yet, and he may very well even succeed there, but if he doesn't, people are freaking ludicrous to believe he won't be snatched up by someone.

This is EXACTLY why he is staying at A&M!!
He has EVERYTHING he needs at A&M to build something unique! For the first time in our history as a university we are going ALL in to bring a NC to A&M.

We are about to spend around $200million on new football facilities, on top of the half a billion we just spent on the new stadium, this is on top of the current facilities that are top notch in the nation.

Open wallet for coaching and support for football team. We have never gone full in like we are doing it now!! We will see if we get there, but for the first time we have everything in place to compete with the big boys!!

Probably, I’m not naive and without a doubt LSU is the better program now……but don’t forget prior to your national run from 2003 and on, your first NC happened in ‘58.
It’s not like you guys were world beaters, for example….While I was in school at A&M from ‘89-‘95 we kicked your arse, (6-1) to the point that LSU broke the series contract with A&M!

My point is, you guys hired the right coach in Saban that set up your program to succeed, so that even mouth breathers like coach O and Miles (let’s be honest, neither of those two coaches were “great/awesome” coaches, they were good but that’s it) could win!!

Hence why I don’t think Jimbo is going anywhere, he has the chance to build A&M to the likes of LSU, Florida, Auburn, etc….

This monster Jimbo is building at A&M. Is it the monster that has already lost to Arkansas and Mississippi State? Is it the monster that has won nothing, while even Cousin Eddie won a national championship at LSU in his third full season?

Are we talking about the same guy?

When did Saban announce he was going to Alabama from the Dolphins? Will LSU wait that long for Meyer. Would Meyer immediately leave Jacksonville or will he atleast finish the season

Lol, you are right Jimbo sucks. Never mind our starting QB went out the second game of the season or that we replaced half our OL with freshman. Or the fact that we are night and day improved from those 2 loses……folks like you make me laugh.

Jimbo has won less than 9 games in only 2 years as a head coach. The idea he would not win at LSU after orgeron and miles won at LSU is laughable.

Jimbo will also recruit at a higher level than both.
