Byrne handcuffed us with that joke of a contract. He did the same thing with Fran. Byrne is the man with non-revenue sports but cannot hire a football coach or come up with a contract to save his life. Two days ago I fully expected Sherman to be our coach next year and he very well may still be, but the smoke has turned into a forest fire in College Station. IMO we are in to deep to turn around from firing him now which is our own fault if we intend to keep him

Buyout not due in one lump sum. Payable over several yrs. I am pretty sure Sherman is gone.
The buyout # was put out there by Chip "Puppet" Brown from Orange Bloods. He is used to deliver whatever message Texas wants ouy. Today they want people to know Sherman's buyout # for a couple of reasons IMO:
1) bc it should embarass aTm that they had that buyout # in place, and
2) bc they want to say "if you can pay $8m to fire a coach then you can pay full big 13 exit fees"

State institutions in Texas don't necessarily have to honor contracts (by Texas law: Sovereign Immunity) but I'm pretty sure Texas A&M officials have more integrity than Texas Tech.

Anyone who reads the newspaper/internet would know that Sherm's contract #'s are public knowledge...but who really pays much attention to that type of stuff until a coach is really on the hot seat?

Another Texas conspiracy, huh?
Didn't say that, but Chip Brown was the first one to post his buyout numbers (today) even though aTm has considered firing Sherman for 4 days now. Also, it is common knowledge that Chip Brown is the puppet of the UT administration.
Texas has to be good again for people to accuse them of a conspiracy. winning 12 games in 2 years doesn't rise to the level of people thinking you are "leading" anything.

I've read it's actually somewhere around 7 Million. The contract Byrne wrote up was apparently never signed by the Board of regents so it is ineffectual. His buyout is 1.8MMx3+deruyters pay as he is tied to Shermans contract. Should equal out to ~7MM. Still alot of damn money and probably a lawsuit.
