The ripple effect of a Riley hire

We would be paying him a stupid amount of money first and foremost and it would reset the coaching market (Mel Tucker you’re welcome).
The next would be the potential players that could come with him. Especially, if Caleb Williams comes, what that could do to our QB room and QB rooms across the country.
Then, they would have to replace Lincoln, which I would guess they would hire Heupel from UT. Which would mean another big time coaching vacancy, and more players in the portal.
This move could change how coaching vacancies are handled, transfer portal rules, national signing day(s), and the trajectories of a lot of players’ careers.
Who knows, this coaching hire could be a 30 for 30 one day or….. we could hire BoB and this site might crash.

You had me going until the BoB comment. Smdh. But yes we would all melt hard AF. I haven’t seen one person approve of that hire lol

I haven’t heard anything about BoB or either Stoops.

According to most OU fans Heupel won’t even be a candidate should their job come open. Apparently there is still some bad blood from when he was fired as their OC.

To state the obvious, neither BoB or Bob will be hired by LSU. Napier is our coach before that.
Now, if Riley has the “it” factor and champion drive (yet to be seen), and he accepts our offer, then I believe OU looks to Aranda (if USC is not his “dream”) and Napier. Maybe they go cheap and give Grinch a chance, but with SEC on horizon, I doubt it. Maybe they reach into the past and hire Mark Stoops. He knows the SEC demands and has had success. Maybe he could transition them to SEC, and for less than 12M per.
Heupel would not even interview. Story is he got sideways with a couple boosters on his way out and he still feels like he was a scapegoat for Stoops’ s inadequacies when he was fired. Secondly, his replacement was none other than Riley. OU would choose to not match LSU’s offer and then call on the guy who they fired in favor of Riley, to replace Riley? Negative. Lastly, Heupel is very loyal to his AD: White gave him his first HC gig at UCF, then hired him at UTe. Heupel will absolutely stay at UTe.

Speaking of ripple effects...
By FAR my favorite ripple effect is that, if we do ultimately wind up hiring Lincoln Riley, Texas A&M may be the ones who made it all possible.
I'll explain...
Back when Texas and OU were still in the process of trying to join the SEC, Aggy didn't want it to happen. They currently have the western-most SEC footprint, as well as the only SEC footprint in Texas. That's a huge deal. So Aggy didn't want it to happen. Once they realized that they weren't going to be able to rustle up the votes to stop the move, they decided to play hard ball: Knowing that it would force Texas and OU's hand to make a decision on the spot, they leaked the discussions. As a result, OU and Texas are having to pay a huge separation fee to the Big 12. Oklahoma is rumored to be scarcely able to afford this fee--there was even talks that Texas was going to have to front them the $--prior to the new SEC TV deal kicking in.
So now, if indeed we beat them in a bidding war for Lincoln Riley, it is very likely due (at least in part) to Aggy's attempt to scuttle UT/OU's conference swap, causing a money crunch at OU.
Delicious.

Why do people assume that Napier is in this search? Is it because somebody made comments or is it because Woodward said he was. Because I haven’t seen anything for any specific coach where he said that was a case. When someone has proof that came out of his mouth then I’ll believe it. Otherwise he isn’t qualified.
