Unless they change the rules and let they coaches actually play, it won't make any difference.
You're gonna wind up with a young head coach, his geezer daddy (calling the shots) and a bunch of highly paid egomaniacs as assistants. The in-fighting will be a thing to watch.
IMO a true cluster in the making.
O is a great coach, but also a nutbag. And he is certainly capable of getting you in recruiting trouble in a flash.

Why does everyone downgrade Coach Kiffin when he hasn't even coached a game yet???
Posted on 1/1/09 at 11:47 am to TNVol92
well he was hated by USC fans for his shitty offense against speedy defenses despite having all-star talent and he's worse as a HC than Tom Cable. But other than that he's probably awesome.

He coached about 20 games at Oakland, and he never a head coach before that. Offensive Coordinator at USC after Norm Chow left, and they were not as good with him in control.
I know that Oakland is not all his fault, but he was quite possibly the least qualified NFL head coach ever. He had no experience even at the college level.

Just because Al Davis is senile and made a bad hire doesn't make Lane Kiffin a great ex-NFL head coaching find. Lot's of former NFL head coaches go back to college and they don't do any better: Al Groh, Paul Hackett, Chan Gailey just to name a few in the last couple of years.
Do you think that Kiffen is any better than Rod Marinelli?

Kiffen was completely disrespected by the entire Oakland Raider players and orgnaization. He was a pussy. I can't figure why you hired him and by bringing Daddy around for a couple of years only makes him look more like he is still shitting yellow.

we are a an elite program that is reloading.
Truly "Elite" programs DONT lose 5 games and look totally lost against passing teams, the year after winning a National Championship. LSU is not as "Elite" as a lot of you cheerleaders think......

As a head coach his record is 5-15. Can't blame the team either because Tom Cable managed 4 wins with the remaining 8 games to end the season. The man has no resume as a head coach to take over a major program. He has dad calling in favor to some friends. You probably will be depending on your coordinators to make this team good. Auburn received a lot of shite for their hire, I thought Tennessee's was just as bad if not worse. Chizik atleast has SEC experience and some history with the program.

Getting O was a coup for Tenn and if true about Ken Norton then they are assembling quite a staff.

I have heard that Ken Norton Jr. is leaving USC to come to Tennessee and coach LBs. What a Defense Tennessee is going to have!!!
Jerry Rice is coming to LSU as WR coach...

...well the "rich" could get richer...except they gave all their money to a DLine coach...woops!
...and Ken Norton has no reason to leave his great job at USC for a crappy one at UT. If he isn't moving up...then you are dreaming.

If Ogeron hadn't been from La, would we have wanted him? I don't think so.

The worst instate talent of all the SEC states(I live in TN)and the days of recruiting nationally like UT used to being over, UT will be a mid-level SEC team at best! Mark my words, Philip Fulmer's ability to recruit to freaking Knoxville, TN will be missed!
Posted on 1/1/09 at 10:57 pm to GatorTrunk
Ken Norton, Jr.'s next job is as a DC somewhere. He isn't going to Knoxville.
