your rhetorical skills are impeccable.

The "I Want Les Miles To Go" list
Put me on the "I want Les Miles to stay" list.
It really really really scares me when other teams want your coach to stay.
see: coach "O", Shula and the Zooker.

you bozos only deserve this

who says the good old boys have f'ed anything up? after all, les was the one lobbying for the job all year -- and we were willing to wait til LSU had their shot at the SEC to talk to him. wouldn't you want to actually interview someone you're offering several million dollars to?
and if since he's only a top 15 coach, we're better off without him then, too (per your logic)

add me to the list. We're playing for a national title because we got lucky as hell. There's no reason in the world that this year I had to root for Pitt on the final Sat. of the year for the chance that my team plays in the MNC. That being said.

maybe they screwed this one up, maybe not. I just get the impression that they have the same reverence for Bo and "Bo Guys" as Alabama has with the Bear and "Bear guys". I happen to think you can do a LOT better than Miles, but I don't see or hear anyone from Michigan talking about spending real money to get a top flight coach, and I hear a lot about strings attached to the job - heve to keep members of the staff, stuff like that. It was a LONG time at LSU before we had an administration that was ready to hire a good coach and then let him do his job. I don't get the sense that Michigan is ready to do that yet.

I don't hate Miles, but believe he has been playing with house money all year. Like the earlier poster pointed out - not a good endorsement when fans from your division hope your coach stays.

there aren't conditions about keeping staff onboard -- last spring, when he knew he was retiring after the season, lloyd negotiated 2 year deals for all his assistants. historically UM has one year deals w/their coaches that roll over each year. the 2 year deals were put in place so lloyd's assistants would be paid when he left, whether a new coach wanted them or not -- that's why he has a rep has a stand up guy.
with the huge revenues UM sports generate (soon to go up w/stadium renovations to include luxury boxes) those salaries are absolutely NO impediment to replacing any and all of them should the new coach choose. which, btw, he will certainly do in the case of S&C coach, offensive line coach (gary moeller's son) and OC Mike DeBord.

But guess what? LSU has a damn strong football team. Les Miles is the coach and LSU is playing for the NC. Have a nice day.

Being there, you obviously know more of the situation than I do. I guess all I'm saying is that the only thing that can hold back Michigan is Michigan.

I guess you have already forgotten about '03 when 6 teams ahead of us lost in the last 2 weeks. But we didnt "back in" that year 'cause Saban was the coach huh? douche

I don't hate miles, in fact, I think he is a fine human being. That being said, I just don't think he is that great of a coach. I will pull like hell for the tigers on Jan 7 and am thankful that the team managed to sneak into the game (thank you, Pitt) but I do expect a significant dropoff next year and in the years to come due to Lester.

Could you explain why? Have you noticed the job he has done in recruiting?

2 differences between 2003 and 2007:
1. We had no business winning the NC in the first place in 2003, and even having the opportunity was pretty unexpected.
2. By the end of the season, we were a fricking dominant team in 2003. We got better as the year went on and were unstoppable by the end. I will change my mind about Les as soon as he fields a dominant team for more than 1 game in a regular season.

you mean if LSU doesn't reach the NC game next year ? What is wrong with you?

we'll have a drop off next year because of our schedule and losses on defense. Even Saban had a drop of after NC year. Also, NC appearances are the exception, not the norm. Hell, the first 3 years under Les are the exception when compared to LSU's history. Les isn't great yet because he hasn't coached long enough to build up his resume, but you have to admit that he's off to a good start.

The recruiting class last year was terrific...No question about that. However, recruiting classes in years 1 & 2 were not as good. In addition, this years class, at least so far, looks to be a bit sub-par as well. It's also not just recruiting. I really think that Miles is a sub-par disciplinarian as evidenced by the multiple opportunities he has given to players such as Odom and RP (btw, i really do hope rp can get his act together this time). I don't think Miles will run the program in the ground like Archer/Hallman, It's just that I think he will have trouble keeping us among the elites of CFB (i.e.,top 10) after this year. My thinking is many 8-4 type seasons.
